Changing your ethnicity

So I bought an Ice Cream today and was on my way home when this popped into my mind.


I was thinking... wouldn't life be more interesting if my ethnics is other than mine right now? Let's say you're American and, for sometime, saw that American life is boring. Then you saw Japanese people and saw that their lifestyle/culture was somehow more fun and appealing than Americans. And you suddenly wanted to change from American to Japanese.

Have you ever thought about something like this? Changing your Ethnicity? Just a Random thought

agreed. i'm proud to be who i am ^_^ i don't think that if i changed my ethnicity, my skillz at using chopsticks will change, <-- that was lame lol... well i won't change my ethnicity because i like my culture, 'cause there's none other like it! and 'cause that's just who i am ^_^ XD

also seriously how the hell do you use chopsticks anyway?
for now ill settle with eating chinese food every now and again

I'm a Canadian citizen, who also has a Hong Kong passport, and I'm thinking of moving to Japan or Korea. I think I'm set.

On a side note, how would ice cream relate to the changing of ethnicity? :?

I'm a Malaysian, sure i would think changing my ethnicity. sometimes.... but it won't change the fact that i'm a Malaysian, i love my country, the land that i was raise up,

so thinking about it, so no.

i live in japan now.but that won't change the fact that i'm indonesian.even though i live in land of my dreams,i still love my country.

Ethnicity =/= Nationality.

American is not an Ethnicity people (AFAIK)

I have sometimes thought that I would love to be in a different culture, but alas, the only way for that is for me to go and be a baka gaijin.

Changing your ethnicity doesn't mean anything if you don't have the culture behind it. It'd just be like getting a sex change.

I used chopstick before I can remember and don't know when I learned how to use chopsticks - but I also don't remember when I learned to use a fork either...

I am japanese/american but I don't look japanese at all! No one believes my mom is my real mother... So I dunno if I'd change my ethnicity but I'm kinda in a gray area to being with.

I'm a young Caucasian male. What could be better than that?

Well I'm just white, growning up my friends ask me if my mom was my step mom. I always felt bad for her lol. Whenever she would sign me out of school the people at the office would look at her funny too. I guess they wondered if she was my real mom or if she was kidnapping me.

ahaha. my mom could barely speak english so they didn't even both accusing her of kidnapping me XD

I'm actually happy the way I am (being a white guy of course XD), the only problem I have with America are all the flaws and problems their are with the economy and such, but other than that life is just great.

Hmmm... I think Americans - actually white people in general - are too hard on themselves. They sometimes feel guilty for either something their ancestors did or because - in america's case anyways - they aren't doing as well as they once were they are now total failures. This either leads to them thinking that their country is in the crap shoot or the person developes a hate for other cultures since they don't understand why they should be feeling guilty about being white.
