Not at all.
1) "A sale is already a sale."
Sure a sale is a sale, but you are failing to look at anything but the present. For example, what if no one at the event cared for the cover and did not want to purchase it. The only people purchasing the cover are those wanting to sell it on YJA. If not for the people purchasing it for auction, the creator would get nothing. If this happens multiple times the creator may produce even less covers and or stop.
If people didn't buy from YJA then these YJA sellers wouldn't buy the covers and there could be situations were covers would not sell like in the above example.
You can't deny this doesn't happen. Circles like HOP have limits for this reason where 30 people must purchase before they even bother producing. By purchasing from YJA you help keep alive the chain.
Your issue is you wrongly assume that every cover is purchased and all sellers leave empty handed. You fail to take into consideration other scenarios that occur.
2) If you can't see how paying someone to purchase something isn't you paying and supporting the maker than that's just you being stubborn.
If I give money to a friend to pick up a case of red bull that isn't him buying it it and supporting the makers. That is me buying it and supporting the makers.
I bought only 1 cover from YJA. I have no bias here. You should stop with this "goggles" nonsense as it only makes you look foolish.
Well there's no point in going further with this since you still fail to understand. Like I said, truth hurts. You think I look foolish, but you're the one who can't seem to understand. Look at all the fanbois. Trying to make opinion look like fact and then becoming upset because someone else doesn't share their views. So you're telling me ios is better than android or vice versa? Or a PS3 is better than an Xbox360 or vice versa? Or any other crazy fan comparisons? Do I really need to explain why people think that way?
I can speak so much more about what you said about #1, but there's no point. See, even dfan is misunderstanding the situation, which was my intention of the post. You can always argue that the sky is not blue, or any other facts are not true. You can bring in situations to try to make the fact not true (like clouds for the sky), but it doesn't mean you are right.
Your #2 I mentioned already, and I had no problems with that. You're just re-iterating what I said.

I am a little confused as to what sparked this whole thing. I don't remember anyone saying that they thought buying covers off of YJA
was directly supporting the artist, I am farily certain that I didn't, and it's pretty obvious that auction sales don't directly support the artist...unless of course, that it's the artist's YJA account. ;)
EDIT: Didn't see your last post, Alamarco, but I agree with your point on a "sale is a sale." ...especially when there is a limited quantity or time frame for which to purchase. That is really the point I am trying to make in my post. :)
It mainly started because I read a bunch of posts and saw some misinformation. I normally don't say anything (and haven't on the other topics), but it seems this bootleg stuff seemed to have fired some people up and was a more heated topic. I decided to chime in.
There were a couple posts (but I don't feel like going back) that have people saying they wanted to support and that they bought at YJA. Also I know a lot of people have started using them. Also reading some of the replies to my post, you can see that some people don't agree with what we said. Alamarco seems to think otherwise.
So aren't you actually agreeing with me? You also agreed with me on your edit since I was the one who said a sale is already a sale. However, just because something is not mass produced (as was mentioned) doesn't mean you can make exceptions.
Basically my whole point was if you aren't buying from the artist or an authorized seller directly, you aren't actually supporting them. It is just like informing people of bootlegs, and any other information that some people may not realize. If something you want to buy is stolen, tends to be defective, causes issues, etc, wouldn't you want to know? Isn't this what this board is about? A place to talk and share information? I sure would like to know if I didn't already. Wouldn't anyone else?
Regardless, I just wanted to give some insight on the uninformed and correct those who thought otherwise. Whether you want to think you are correct, fine. That's cool. Just like arguing spiders don't have 8 legs due to mutation or injury. I like to try to be thorough, so I try to give examples, instead of just making random statements with nothing else to go by. The problem is the posts will become way too long, which my posts normally are. So I generally don't post often in places because I can't say everything that I want. And then what happens? People misunderstand, misinterpret, and so forth.
But yes, we should go back to talking about dakimakuras instead of arguing with each other.
