How I wish, I had the money like you guys, I could have expended my collection by another 30% which means I would have hit 520 over dakis in total.
Holy shit ! Did you say 520 dakis? Damn, that's wild.
Trust me, man I am no where near that number nor do I have that sort of money. I do have about four comic book boxes of doujinshi though. That is really where my bidding/buying obsession started. Same goes for some eroge PC games and HCG sets on disc - I have a couple dozen of them too.
Fortunately for me I have zero debt and own everything in my possession. :)

As for searching tips, you pretty much got the best of it, willowywicca. I generally use Chrome and just copy/Google Search the item name, and then chop it down further from there to get results. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's generally pretty helpful, with a bit of grunt work and patience, to dig up sample images for covers that aren't on the dakimakura blog/were released a long time ago. But even then it isn't really a sure thing.
For proper images of the actual cover, you're even more limited to what people have taken pictures of. The copy/search method still works fairly well, but over time you just start to learn what sites do reviews, and you check back at those frequently.
Some good sites:

Also, yeah Shashin, that's pretty much how I go about searching for covers when I find one in say an auction; I will copy/paste into Google and if that doesn't turn anything up then I'll cut it down until something does. Also, I don't know if any of you know this little trick, but if you go to Google image search and find a pic of a cover you are searching for but it just so happens to be censored, not the right size, etc. you can actually drag and drop the image into the Google search bar. I just found this out a couple months ago by accident. It will also provide you with similar looking images too. :)
EDIT: Aaaaaahhhhh. So
that's what that Miku cover looks like. I gotta' say, that is one hot cover.
Oh, and I picked up my B&W order this morning. Best packaging ever: thick mil plastic cases, with button snaps on the back and comes with a with full-color poster board insert of the cover. So happy right now. :3
