Dakimakuras anyone?

Haha, don't worry about the picture quality, it looks fine. I try way too hard to take good shots of my covers, but I don't really know why I put so much damn time into it. It's not like I'm trying to sell them to anyone or convince someone that my covers are better than theirs. Besides, they are just going to get buried in posts anyhow. My pseudo-remedy for this was to place links to a couple of my latest hauls in my signature. ;)

Heh, yeah. I had been a Fakku member for a few months before I found this thread. I eventually wanted to create a thread myself since the one in the Random forum was quite depressing, and I found this thread as it was just starting up maybe 3 pages in. :D

As Kobun said, don't worry too much about picture quality. I know he spends an absurd amount of time making his pictures look pretty, but I prettty much just take them and upload them. >_> And this thread does seem to move really fast these days.

I am glad you like them 8D I have been looking at a Holo Dakimakura but I need to save up my money a bit, since I have been spending it all on Evangelion figures xD

Yup, the money goes quick, don't it? I started out just like Shashin did. It's like "The Path." Doujinshi is totally the gateway drug into the otaku universe. ;)



Oh wow! I just noticed that you have pillows for all of your covers. I only have one, but am not currently using it.
I'll bust it out and pull a cover over it every now and then, but for the most part, I just like collecting covers...money permitting. :(

I was thinking of doing that at first as well, but I just said, "screw it" and decided to eventually buy a pillow and just put the cover on it. I heard it is REALLY comfortable to hug.

Yes! I started out with Wallscrolls, that was what really got me hooked with collecting. Making my walls all pretty, then it started with my obsession with Neon Genesis Evangelion. Now I have over 18 figures of it, With an assortment of plushies, DVD, and manga Q~Q my bank is ruined LOL

Yeah, I purchase them with the pillow, so it's not really a cover, it is just a pillow itself with a cover (sewn?) on. But they are very comfy *O* I couldn't imagine having tons of covers xD I would be swapping between them every night!

My entire anime collection is just four wallscrolls, two plushies, and a bunch of DVDs/BluRays. I'd also like to collect figurines, but I'm starting with dakimakuras first. They seem like a better investment to me.

Btw, where do you get the pillows to put inside your covers? I'm planning to just get one off Amazon.

Well, my collection consists of 31 wall scrolls, 30 posters, 21 figures, 20 plushies, 4 Dakimakura, over 30 series on DVD and over 4 completed manga sets, 2 towels, a few OST's, and some trinkets here and there like my Cowboy Bebop clock LOL. But about the pillow question, you can find the individual pillow cushion on Amazon. You can also find the pillow + cushion all in one like mine.

If you're in the US, Royalpillow seems to be the best overall deal. A couple of people in this thread have ordered pillows from them and they're apparently of fairly good quality and definitely reasonably priced. They're also willing to do custom sizes if you call them up, which is recommended since their default sizes might be a bit small.

Yeah, I couldn't find this cover anywhere and I stumble upon a website that happen to have it, so I just made the jump and bought it on the spot.

Right, the ones I see on Amazon are 150x50cm, while covers seem to usually be 160x50. But I think I probably wouldn't mind, especially if getting a custom ends up costing more.

Well it would depend on how much they're going for on Amazon and if shipping is free (should you have Prime.) I think the custom covers weren't much more than the prices they have listed on the side, maybe $22 or so for the basic material. I know BluRay really recommended the Cluster Fiber material and it looks like that's a bit more expensive (site lists it at $30 for one that's about 182 cm.)

$30 isn't bad, I suppose, especially if it's something I sleep with. Should have money left over anyways, since my friend's gonna get another cover for me on his trip to Japan if time and money permits (he's there for familial reasons). I'll pay for about a third of it if he does.

You said you just collect dakimakura covers, right? You don't get pillows for 'em?

I have one pillow and slept with a cover on it for quite some time. I liked it, but it's fairly hot year round where I'm at and I like it nice and cool; sleeping with a body pillow adds a lot of heat, so it's generally something I only do in the cooler winter months.

I'd eventually like to order maybe 10 or so pillows from Royalpillow, so I can have a harem thing going on. The way I see it is the money saved by not buying more pillows is money I can put towards more covers. Kinda silly when you think about the cost of a cover versus the pillow, but I definitely get more joy out of collecting them than I do sleeping with them.

Is it usually the same cover you use each night for the one pillow you sleep with? Or do you change it around from time to time?
