Do soul mates exist?

Recently, I've been granted mass amounts of time where I do nothing. I started thinking about relations at one point and came to this:

Is there really a "soul mate" out there for everyone? And if so, what are your chances of realistically meeting them?

It's been bugging the shit outta me since I want to be with someone awesome, but what if their awesome wasnt the awesome that was meant for me? Does that mean I screwed someone else over, or just myself? What're your guys thoughts on this?


I'd have to say I do not believe in soul mates, since theoretically my timescale for finding said person is quickly running out...but in my heart, I hope I have one... :oops:

my concept for soul mate is that it is not necessarily in the body of a human being so.... good luck if your soul mate is in the body of a dog.. i seriously hope not.. XD

Anywyas... Soulmate? Watching too much Anime made me believe in them. jk

I do believe that a Soulmate exist out there. Sure, there might not be a choir of angels but still, I do believe.

Now the problem is... how do you know if the person is your soulmate? Your soulmate could be a complete opposite of you, completely like you or just not your type. It's really hard finding your soulmate, cause sometimes you never know that he/she could be right in front of you yet you don't notice it and you leave him/her once you think another person is your 'soulmate'.

*sigh* Love really is complicated...

Yes there are soul mates in this world, the real question will you ever find them?

I do not think that there are pairs of people who are just destined to be together, relationships will always require work.
I think you can be just as happy with person A as with person B and C, if you're willing to work a bit for it, that is.

That is not to say that every person can have a succesful relationship with any other, that's by no means what I'm trying to convey.
Of course, some matches are made from better material than others and seeking a good match is surely a worthy goal in life, no doubt.

Also, a metaphysical force that draws certain people together isn't apparent to me. However, it's existence can not be fully dismissed, of course.

Sometimes, I think that saying something along the lines of "I don't think we're destined for eachother, sorry" is a convinient way for people to excuse their inability to adept to their partner. An inability that is eventually hurting themselves.

I do believe in soul mates, but I don't believe in the whole your soul mate being your "other half of your soul" type of thing. I believe soul mates could be anyone, even people really close to you. It's not like your going to know immediately when you meet them that they are your soul mate, it takes time to love someone - though I do believe if you meet them you some kind of connection at first, mentally and physically.

I suppose the most trouble I'm having right now is figuring out whether or not ill ever find that one person...and I know that is a question that cant be answered by anyone here...lol....guess i hae to go exploring then ... XD

Given that the soul is a concept created by man, I don't think so, it would be nice but that would mean there is something cool i the universe and we aren't lucky enough to have that.

I like to think that you can pick the person that's right for you... I don;t like to think that it is chosen for us.

Yes, however, the matter of whether or not you find them is not the real question, it's whether or not you will be with them. As illustrated, just cause you found someone perfect for you, and vice-versa, doesn't necessarily mean you should be with each other, it's complicated, but it's something I learned from my own personal experience.

I believe I have already found my soulmate, it was this girl I met in 6th grade, who I was truly in love with, and she felt the same way about me, I just never confessed. The point is, she will always hold a huge piece of my heart, I will probably never let her go, but I have moved on, and I have found people who I have had a stronger relationship with, despite holding on to her as my soulmate. Just cause someone is so perfectly fit and lovable for you, doesn't mean you will be with that person. The love you have for someone is what truly bounds you together, not the fact that you compliment someone completely.

agreed.and soul mates doesn't have to be an opposite sex or lover in my opinion.

for instance,i consider my twin sister as my soulmate.we understand each other and we have that kind of an unspeakable bond we don't share with others.i love her,too(in most non-twincest ways possible)

so i think they exist,and they could be anyone.it's just some is lucky they find their soulmates,while some is not so lucky.

soulmate exists,and they could be anyone.family,friend,lover....even somebody who doesn't share any ties with you.

like in my case,where my soulmate happened to be my cousin/lover.

but still,i'm lucky enough to be able to find my soulmate.
i'm just hoping that all soulmate-less people out there could find their own soulmate someday. :)

Finding someone who is the equivalent of a soul mate would please me greatly, I don't need a perfect relationship, just a healthy one.

I don't believe in spiritual or mystical soul mates.

I believe in love though, and I believe that some people are more compatible with you than others (both physically and emotionally).

I believe in many possibilities in life... I don't believe there's one set path for anything. So, I'm not sure... I guess having said that, I don't believe there's a ONE soulmate. ^^ So if you think you've found the one, and it just dosen't work out... I'm sure there's someone else out there. :D
