Download or Own?

Which do you prefer when it comes to Anime? Do you prefer buying the DVDs, or just downloading it and not paying a dime? A few months ago, I bought a boxset of Haruhi Vol. 1 because it also came with 2 Character Song CD's (and that was awesome to me.) My friends tell me that I'm stupid for buying something that I can just as easily download. Maybe it's just me, but I like OWNING things so I can say that I actually DO have it, and not have to boot up my laptop everytime I want to watch/listen to whatever. What do you think, Fakku? Should people stop buying altogether (thus killing Anime sales,) or start buying the DVDs of their favorite series? There are times where I wish people would remember that DVDs also have a JP option and sub option. *Just because your fansubs have pretty colors, what makes them any more accurate than a DVD's subs?* If you don't know a lick of Japanese, you have no idea, so stop saying that you do. *Not the point of the thread, just an observation. The thread isn't a sub accuracy debate.* But yeah - Buy or download?

I do both.
I download HD anime stuffs and from the store I'm buying, they're also selling HD stuffs.
Most of the time I'm downloading though.

I rarely buy anything. That's not to say that I wouldn't. It's just that buy anything you need money and that's one thing that I don't have a lot of.

i prefer DVD but i haven't buy DVD-Rom Yet so i download my movie at all

Yeah I just recently found out about that. I bought the volume 1 box, but fuck it, I'm gonna buy the complete collection next. No reason to spend MORE money on each individual volume.

download... it's quicker but it'd be nice to own some... i only own one manga volume of Kedamono Damono... the one where the guy turns into a girl at night... it has some yuri pics of him and his girlfriend kissing when he's a girl... and it says he turns into a "raunchy girl" no kidding...

i prefer download because i never have money to buy. i still babysit my sis, and im tryin to get through college to be a pharmacist, so till then i have to dl.

Depends. I rarely stream what I want to watch, so I always download. If it is something I really like I'll keep my eyes peeled for the box set in stores, but rarely will I find them, so most of my collection remains burned DVDs.

I can't easily purchase things on the net so it leaves me a bit screwed with getting anime in stores. Best I have is Best Buy and their collection is horrendous. It used to be "meh" but now it is like two shelves filled with Naruto, FMA, and Bleach shit. Then there is Fry's (electronics store) with a pretty decent collection, but it is rare that I go all the way to Indy to purchase anything, nevertheless go there just to look for anime box sets.

I download, but I'd rather own. 'specially since owning means I can keep the files and not be breaking the law.
There's just something about being able to say "I own that" that I love. Kinda like how I want to buy Golden Sun despite having the ROM and having beaten it already. I wish I hadn't let my original copy go through the wash >.<

If i can buy the DVD's i will normally buy them but if they are shows that will never be licensed and brought out over here i have absolutely no problem with downloading them

Heh, you can't download figures.

Personally, Owning is better.
