Favorite Gundam Series

I mostly admire the UC series for their characters. In my opinion characters like Cima Garahau and Norris Packard rank up there with people like Char and Paptimus Scirocco in terms of depth of personality. Also, the smaller stories allowed the directors to show some of the more personal affects the wars had on people. 0080 was especially effective at that. I think 08th MS Team might edge up as my favorite, but not by much. Mobile Suit Gundam and Zeta Gundam are favorites, too.

I guess the original Gundam the image of the broken Gundam firing the head of Zeong is still clear in my head too. Of course Zeta too but man... the death counts. Also Gundam 00, for a new generation gundam series this one is really good unlike the other one...

The SEED was ok. Not that great and the ending was somewhat disappointing. Destiny...sucks balls. Everything was repeating SEED all over again except from a ZAFT perspective then change to freaking let's have Kira beat everybody and let him blab nonsense of his stupid ideals.

Heh, Amuro, Kamille, and pretty much every other protagonists from the other series should just gang up on Kira. I would like to see that. :lol:

Gundam Seed is my choice, I own Gundam Wing and the movie, but after seeing Gundam Seed It became my favorite.

Gundam_00 season1 was a let down for me, it lacked so much what the previous Gundam series attracted the viewer with. Season 2 of _OO Is a different story, making up huge for season1, it really picked up the dragging lack luster feeling I got from season1.

I have a confession . . . I don't like 08th MS Team. I missed it when it came on Cartoon Network (no cable at the time), and I watched it a couple of months ago, and it was a chore. I enjoyed the first episode, and I enjoyed the last two or three, but just about everything in the middle was boring.

The thing I've heard the most about why 08th MS Team is good is, "It doesn't have Newtypes or overpowered characters. This is real." One, I like Newtypes and the way they are used. I don't think there's a problem. Two, the series wasn't as more "real" than any other Gundam series. If it was, the 08th MS Team wouldn't have been in kickass Gundams. They would have been in GMs, and people would have died. Because that's what happens. GMs get blown the fuck up, and pilots die.

Anyways, the series was boring because I didn't care about any of the characters. Everyone except the main character was shallow and never said shit. Each character had an episode devoted to him/her, and the rest of the time, they were just on the side. That may be alright if the series has more than twenty episodes, and the viewer can get a feel for each character, but with 08th MS Team, you didn't get a long enough time to connect with and understand the characters. All you get is a simple background that tries to show how each person is mortal. That may be a step above some other series, but it was very disappointing for a Gundam series.

Of course, most of the people I know who say that 08th MS Team is the best Gundam series watched it on Cartoon Network and haven't seen any other UC series. Just 08th MS Team and Gundam Wing and maybe SEED.

I like Gundam 00 but I'll admit, the first 14 episodes was somewhat boring. Then from 15 on, it really started to pick up. I was literally waiting for the next episode where I was willing to stay up until around 2 am in my area to watch when the torrent came up. Personally the best episodes for me in the 2nd half of the S1 was the intro of the Throne Gundams, Ali single-handily stole Throne Zwei and kills Johann and Michael, and Lockon's death. Those were great episodes.

The second season was absolutely awesome. S2 ep 1 was great for a fist episode. Started with a battle between Katharon and A-LAWs and Exia's reappearance in it's battle scared state. The Allelujah rescue episode was cool too and can't help but laugh at the rainbow when the Gundam escaped. If I was a member of A-LAWs and I saw that rainbow, I'd be like, ah fuck even god's on their side. I still can't wait to see the conclusion and I hope it does become epic unlike Destiny were everything was utterly boring.

well you right 08th MS should have more episodes

and other characters besides the main is just like a side character here, I think it's because the main story is focused on the love story, like romeo and juliet gundam version

Zeta Gundam -A New Translation-

gundam seed destiny is the best.not if,what or hands about it.but only because of what shinn and stella went their.i pretty much did was well with my first love :"(

new translation is good too, but I still prefer the series, because the series succeed to make me depressed

their death sure make me sad too...tomino is like to screw my emotions with his gundam series...especially the victory

I don't want to provoke you but you do know that Destiny basically repeated SEED in every way right? Yeah Shinn was a cool character, too bad he was thrown away for Kira =/

A New Translation was pretty good but I still preferred the original ending where Kamille became a vegetable. Sad as it is, I think that has more impact.

I just want to share my opinion...

honestly gundam wing is the first gundam series i ever saw...
I like it...I appreciate this series because gundam wing is make my step to the gundam world...

nowadays I more like UC series like First Gundam, Z, or ZZ, crossbone...
and I find gundam wing stories has similarities with them, but that not change my respect to that series...

and I think Gundam SEED is being made to re-ignite the flame of gundam series...even if the story seems boring...that maybe because I already watched the old gundams...and gundam SEED purpose is to gain new fans for the franchise...

just my opinion here...

UC Gundam: can't really decide any favorite, but leaning to Z gundam, Hyaku Shiki is COOL.

Alternate gundam: Wing and 00
SEED was good at the start, and when I realized it's just a almost copycat of Gundam, it just went down. It went down more when DESTINY appeared.

Oh I wish Gundam Sentinel will be animated sometime.

Glad I'm not the only one who wants it to be animated. When I saw the cg cutscene in the GGenaration game, I believe Sentinel will be an awesome series if it were to be animated...
