FLAC or MP3?
Do you perfer to listen to your music in FLAC for MP3 format?

Just curious to see why you like one better then the other.
Back then, mp3 was the norm, but lately, FLAC has been gaining momentum. There are even music players that can play FLAC format, such as Sansa Clip and Sansa Fuze.
For those that don't know the difference, FLAC is Lossless, meaning it's a exact copy of the CD. MP3 on the other hand is lossy. It's not the exact sound quality as the CD it's ripped from. You can tell the difference if you have good speakers or headphones.

i haven't seen yet much .flac compatibly (on phones etc.) so i like .mp3 format more. Thou haven't done any research or tried to listen the differences in .mp3 and .flac formats.

LOL, FLAC over Mp3 ANYDAY. Don't make me laugh, the comparense in sound quality is incomprehensible.
Eg. MP3 top bitrate maxes out at 320kpbs, while FLAC is a good 1000kpbs. As OP said this makes it a lossless format. OGG is also another type of lossless format. OGG is slightly lower in sound quality then FLAC but inturn is much smaller the the FLAC format.
I have myself a Sansa Fuze and it is 99% FLAC/OGG music. And TBH there is absolutely no point in listening to a lossless format with shit speakers/headphones/IEMs.

FLAC for sure. Even with my cheap $50 headphones I can tell the difference between flac and mp3. mp3 is a thing of the past for me.

I like to use both, but for different reasons. FLAC/Apple Lossless is used for when I am listening to music with my sound setup or good headphones on my iPhone. Mp3s are used for things that don't need the most perfect sound quality, space is an issue, and/or the device in question doesn't support FLAC; which in the case of most car stereos.

MP3 is obviously the more superior format seeing hardly any songs are in FLAC, but voted FLAC because the poll question asked "Do you perfer to listen to your music in FLAC for MP3 format?"

If I can find them, I use FLACs on my computer and then have winamp convert them to mp3s on my portable. Even though with Rockbox it can play FLACs too its just that its only has 2 gigs worth and I want more than 4 albums on it =X
I do agree though that if you have shitty speakers you aren't going to be able to tell a difference between them or not. If your using laptop speakers or the speakers that came with your prebuilt computer then you won't tell a difference. Go out and buy at least a 2.0 set with a subwoofer built in for $40.

With some of today's music players, space isn't much of a problem. I have a 8gb sansa fuze with a 16gb microSD card in it. Totaling to 24gb space.
I used to have all mp3s, but lately, I've switched half my collection to FLAC. It's not hard to find FLAC version of your music if you know where to search. That's why I voted FLAC.
IRC is actually one of the best places to find all your anime music in FLAC.

I don't like FLAC. There, I said it. I don't hear any difference at all.
Then again, I'm not a huge music person. I love to listen to it, and I have a ton of music, but I don't know shit about the stuff. I can't even tell what sound is what instrument in a song. But that's okay, because I'm not interested in that sort of thing. I just like what I like, and that's fine.
So for me, it's MP3. Easier to handle and takes up less space. I don't care if the audio quality is a little worse; it still sounds great to me.

FLAC is starting to dominate the torrent sites and many download sites. usually people will include MP3 because they still care for people who can only play MP3.
and seriously if I have a larger Hard disk I'll download flac songs everyday...

I prefer .flac. I'm one of the types that looks for the best quality in all his stuff, so .flac is an automatic. Though it does eat at my HD...

Now that i listened Nana Mizuki - Eternal Blaze on flac and mp3, indeed flac sounded better, especially bass =o

FLAC is better but its too bad not all portable media players are able to play it, theres that and the ridiculous amount of space the media player must have just to hold an album or two.
