It really depended on my professor. I know my biology teacher.. he got in a wreck about a block from the school and came in dusting off glass from his dress shirt and he even had a little blood on his forehead. He was real 'you come no matter what' and he pretty much showed he followed his own policy <_<.
He was taking pieces of glass out of his hair while teaching.
Pretty much like my English Composition I professor, except after the first class this semester, he developed some pretty bad complication and had to go in for hospitalization. He's so dedicated to his job that he comes back to teach one class as limited by his doctors. So far, my class has been a total breeze with 4 different substitutes and two canceled classes. The 4th subsitute is in fact the head of the English department... but even then we don't do anything particularly serious in his class as he's still scrambling for a more permanent professor other than him, which he says he's getting swamped.
