Hmm...
Might be that this is because I either have the atmosphere senor of fresh roadkill, or because I haven't really been posting much, but I have not, personally, seen this increased hostility everyone has been talking about.

Indeed, I agree that the atmosphere is getting a little hostile, not only between regular members, but also towards the newer participants of our community. There are many a times where new topics are created without much thought or effort, resulting in repeat threads, them appearing in the wrong section, or simply awaiting to be flamed, which I am strongly against. As Elites and Elders of the community, all of you have the right to point these newbies in the right direction, though some of your methods may be less than desirable. Phrasing your words to make them sound sincerely helpful and less arrogant can have a profound effect on others. All of us started off as a newbie at one point or another, hoping to gain acceptance from others; hearing kinds words will increase the probability of one continuing to engage the various discussions, while harsh replies may result in a new user leaving forever. The same concept applies in reality, where customer service is important in attracting potential customers.
Leaving aside the possibility that I have a tendency to incite, I can think of few instances nowadays that merit kindly treatment of our newbies. I do not, for one, dislike them, and I always hate going through the newbie stage in any new community, so I try to be nice to them, but the recent influx of new members have not been Newbs, but fucking noobs.
Too many times seeing "Hay guys, can you gif me" threads, too many newbs that insist on failing to read the FAQ/Rules stickies, and one may simply assume that the next newb is going to be a dumbass, and put them down accordingly.
Not much I can say on that matter, since I think I do it myself, but the regular members of Fakku, I have not seen unnecessarily tormenting newer members. I've only actually seen the noobs being put down.
Though, I tend to stay away from Meet & Greet, so I might just not be seeing any of the newb abuse.

I don't think it will take up much time for any of you to come up with a single sentence stating your opinion on the matter, instead of the above. A simple "This^", "QFT", "I agree", etc, does not help much either. Yes, it is difficult to change one's habit, much less a subculture on the forum, but we have to start somewhere. In the very least, it will make the forum appear less spammy.
Maybe.
However, If I may, I will argue that while single words-QFT posts do not appear as constructive discussion, I would like to put that down to human nature. Many times, when conversing in real life with friends, or with people who share your viewpoints in general, you will find yourself or others proffering these "Single Word replies", which instead of a message board's "This^, QFT", etc, occur as "Yeah. Right? I know, right? You said it", etc.
While they do offer nothing new, I would like it if we could leave them alone. Sometimes, people have nothing more to say, other times nothing more needs to be said, and yet other times it's just a habit of English speech, which dropping online would be impossible without dropping it in real life.
