Have any of you ever wanted to play a musical instrument?

How many of you have ever wanted to learn how to play a musical instrument but simply haven't had the time and/or motivation? What instrument is it and why?

For me I wish I could learn to play the violin. The reasons behind this are: 1.) after listening to many an anime soundtrack, I find the ones that use a violin highly pleasing to the ears, (not that the ones who don't aren't). 2.) I've also noticed that the violin, as well its string family siblings, the viola and the cello, bare many similarities to the human voice in that they can be used to express a variety of emotions from sadness & joy to anger & fear.

The piano and guitar. I want to polish my skills, but haven't had the time even though I can play them decently.

3 instruments I wanted to play, but couldn't:

1. Piano. However, a very good teacher of mine told me that it would take me years to become professionally good. Time is something I just don't have right now.

2. Drums. But I sucked so hard so I gave up xD

3. Violin. I simply don't have the time to dedicate myself.

The first reason that comes to your mind for an instrument to dedicate your whole life into learning is anime? I mean, really?



Name me something actually worth playing that doesn't require "years" to reach a professional level.

i used to play the keyboard and guitar till the 2nd last year of school, been 4 years since i've touched them :'(

after watching nodame cantabile earlier i wanted to play the piano and violin so bad.
i even started saving up for it...

I've played piano when i was younger but my fingers were kinda big for the keys and i lacked motivation but sometimes i wish i could relearn it again. I also originally wanted to play drums and i had the chance and i just plain suck at it. XD ok since this one its kinda stupid to me, but after watching K-ON! i wanted to learn bass cause of Mio.

Ive played guitar for a couple years now, and Ive played bass on and off (which is awesome btw) but I have also played drums, but not for long.

If anything, I want to get better at drumming.

actually after learning how to play a few instruments and playing them for a few years, I wanted to expand my range, thou I don't have much time for practice, and most instruments are loud and thus must be practiced when you know you won't upset others, that I can't do at my place anymore, and if I could it wouldn't be for that long....so all I can do is try to retain what talent I have for the instruments I know and just keep wishing I could learn other ones nano desu

i wanted to play something that you can bring everywhere, like a harmonica.

I would really like to learn Violin or Piano.

I used to play the saxophone, but I always wanted to learn to play/wield the cello.

i want to learn playin the bagpipe cause i liek medieval music and there are bagpipes used very often.

Drums. only a few problems. I have no where to put a set. They're damn expensive (especially if I get all the little add-ons I want. Last problem, they're loud as hell.

Harmonica. I love my Harmonica. It's awesome. My dad always tried to get me to learn the guitar...I can't take the blisters and major callouses that shit gives you, hurts like a motherfucker, and if you play too long your fingers just BLEED.

Tried to learn how to play the piano but failed.
Tried to learn the guitar but got frustrated because i'm a lefty.
Always wanted to learn the violin but i doubt it.

lol you play too hard and too long if you bleed. You should be practicing, not hurting yourself.
