Headphones or earphones?

A good pair of comfortable headphones over earphones any time, maybe I'm just cursed when it comes to earphones because they tend to break really easily on me

It depends on what I'm doing and where I'm at.

If I'm at home playing a game on the comp or something I'm using headphones, otherwise say I'm walking to and from class or at the gym I'm using earbuds.

I'm surprised, would have thought more people would be using earphones rather than headphones if for no other reason than they are more widely available due to iPods and such.

I use earphones. While I hear they are much worse for your ears due to them being 'in' your ears(sound waves do not disburse as much as with headphones, so more stress on your eardrums), they are a lot more convenient for me and a hell of a lot less noticeable.
For years I have pretty much always had an MP3 player with me at nearly all times. Around 80% of the time though I only use 1 earpiece. This allows me to subconsciously choose weather to listen to what people are saying or what song happens to be playing.

While you 'can' do this with headphones... I just don't like doing it.

Really depends what your going to use them for. Computer, media player etc. Computer use, go with headphones and for media player use go with IEM's (in ear monitors, aka earphones).

Hope your investing in a decent pair of headphones/IEM's and not some horse shit cheap ones.

Headphones are heaps better and are more comfortable earphones suck in my opinion but hey every one is different.

Earphones. I've never been caught in class discussions whenever i use my earphones. Not like those headphones, it catches my professors attention.

i dont like ear phones they hurt. but i useally wear headphones any way so teachers would just do an occasionaly make sure im paying attention question ... they look cool ^^

I prefer headphones but earphones have their uses

Though I use earphones ATM cause my headphone has a wire problem I blame earphones for my deftness to soft sounds, not to mention they fall off every now and then. also after I stop listening using earphones and remove them I get a feeling that there's like a wall of sound stuck on my ear... really don't like that

I agree, and headphones usually have better sound.

I use headphones sometimes, but I use earphones more often for convenience. I also have issues about putting stuff on my head.

Earphones. Might go back to headphones since i have been losing some of my hearing.

i haven't used many diff headphones, but mine hurt if i keep them over an hour on my head. So i mostly use earphones with DSi or listening music at bus while going to school.

Simply, headphones inside and earphones outside. Headphones offer better sound quality and comfort but you tend to look like a tool if you wear them outside. Earphone design is all about subtlety and portability.

But I HATE it when headphones snag your hair... it's one of the primary reasons why I've stopped using them.

On a general basis, i think headphones look cooler... But I have always been a fan of earphones myself.

Headphones. They have better dynamic range than earphones and have lesser ill effect on your auditory system. Looks cooler too.
