That kind of shit really sends a twirk up my spine. Back home it was 7.15 and living expenses were less then here.

I pay $600 a month for this apartment.
My mom paid $650 a month for her apartment, and it was a 4 bedroom 2 bath apartment. It was basically a one floor house on the second floor.

I cant imagine states in this day and age without minimum wage... that seems ridiculous for a western democracy.

Trust me, I was working when the minimum wage was 5.25. They changed it right after I quit my job.

I take it that happened this year then? The Department of Labor still has Georgia listed as $5.15, but I think they only update the list yearly.

Edit: Ah, I see what it was. It was listed as any employer who has at least six or more employees is entitled to pay empolyees only $5.15. Although I imagine that will be disregarded once Georgia goes to $7.25 on July 24 with most of the other states who haven't already gone to $7.25.

So minimum wage "by paper and by rule" is $6.55, but it can be loopholed back at $5.15. Ah, don't you love how the government works. Unfortunately the same is with my state, Indiana, right now. Indiana is also going to $7.25 on July 24, and most business practice it already, but as long as you are an employer with at least two employees the wage is still set at $6.55 until that date.

It happened around august of last year. All employers are working for 6.55 or higher, unless your employer is a cheap asshole making people work for below mininum wage who aren't smart enough to know they are getting underpaid.

I'm working for around 10 bucks an hour for working in landscaping currently. Tough ass work. I need a new job =_=. Maybe being a waiter...

I still don't know why he said $6.30 - he said it more then once. Do you think he was making up a lower number because he knew I just moved to Georgia and probably didn't know the minimal wage there?

Go with my job. Sure the work is unsteady but, when you do work it comes out to about $40/hr...now if only I could work everyday.

Oh BTW there is a 3k equipment cost. You don't have to buy it all at once but, trust me. You'll need it. Don't forget the $1500+ for your car to be modified for it also. THAT you will need to buy up front.

I vote Best Buy. The savings technically add more "income" as that money is actually saved which can be put elsewhere.

Welfare is the suckish easy way, plus it will probably suck... and even as annoying as some jobs may get I'd prefer to be doing something than nothing.

Supposedly, the minimum wage (in TN, at least) is going to go up to $7 this July. That'll help, but it will still suck to live here, because a lot of businesses don't let people work long enough to earn a decent paycheck.

Even if you earn $15 an hour, you won't be able to survive if the business always lets you go early and never schedules you days. Which I've seen happen quite a few times.

Makes me want to move up north. Businesses are actually hiring, and they pay a decent wage? Hells yeah!

Not really Shaggy, well - at least where I lived. But I didn't live in a large city, I lived more in a large town.

If you're going to try for work anywhere it'd be in the big cities. I'm fortunate because right now I live a hair above Atlanta, so there's more job opportunities. The downside of that is your living expenses are more expensive if you don't want to live in the slums.

Especially California, I have -no- idea how people live there <_< It's so god damn expensive.

Agreed, that's part of the reason why California is in worse shape than everyone else.
