well I'd think they'd still do it for show/re-enactments and ceremonies, but this is Canada not some backwater 3rd world nation/country that sticks to the same customs they did decades ago without changing. Also, I never understood what's the big deal about seeing bagged milk. As a matter of fact, solid containers are overrated. They take up too much space in the fridge and later in the recycle bin. They're also heavy and lead to spills by children and weak people.

THe RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) is quite a bit like national police, they are used in every part of Canada, the smaller towns often have no county/city police officers, they simply have RCMP members, in the larger towns there are Provincial/City police. The OPP (Ontario Provincial Police) are the real law enforcers within my city (they have all the traditional police divisions: swat, vice, narcotics...)

Our military forces wear dark green camo uniforms when in Canada, they also wear different color uniforms dependent on location (brown for Afghanistan...).

I'm fine with people making fun of Canada, I believe I take it a lot better than most Americans take people making fun of the United States. I think the key difference is that in general I have a good knowledge base of foreign cultures, not just my own; when I joke about the United States I actually know the truth.
