I've been trying to keep it 'introverted' for awhile... but I seem to get hit on/asked out by guys who just aren't my type (I like the introverted type! lol)
If you want an introverted partner, taking the initiative yourself makes sense, no matter your gender. If a guy is so caught up in stereotypes that he frets because OMG THE GIRL MADE THE FIRST MOVE, then fuck him.

How I confessed to my past non-lover (since she rejected me)?
Well, we were coming back from a 7-day school trip (this was back in ze Belgian equivalent of High School). I had been too nervous to ask her the whole trip, and I even asked a friend of mine to ask it for me, but I forgot about it and the girl didn't believe him anyway: so, when we were coming back in the train, I went to her seat and asked if I could talk to her. So we went to the part where you get on and off the train (have no idea how it's called), and even before I could open mouth she said: "So he meant it, didn't he?"
It made things so much easier, and even though she rejected it (she already had a boyfriend), having all that stress lifted off my shoulders at once made it one of the happiest moments of my life so far.

There is a higher chance because to be frank, she'll think you are a jerk/coward/rude person for not having the guts to say it to her in person or atleast hand her a note or something in person. Save for elementary and middle school, it is very rare that you can use a proxy to ask someone out with.
But if you like her, then is that so very crazy a thing? Is that something to be embarassed about? I'd say not. So don't be shy, and just ask her out. If she does reject you, your relationship doesn't have to be over, just smile and say thats fine we can still be friends.
Now I'm not saying go up to her like a big dope and ask her out without a battle plan in mind, but you shouldn't be afraid of the rejection. She'll be able to tell if you are afraid and nervous, and the more nervous you seem, the more desperate you'll seem. And that is a turn off.
