How do you feel about spoilers and the people who drop them?

Today two things were spoiled in front of me, one of which I already knew and the other was unknown to me. It bothered me less when something was spoiled for just me due to the fact that I was not super involved with the subject which was spoiled but I was more affected by the subject I know. It was the end to one of my favorite eroges; Sengoku Rance. I felt like the person might have ruined something for someone who had to had the chance to play the game yet. The person who did it was someone I had a moderate amount of respect for before the event. When i called him out on it he tried to argue that what he had done was not a spoiler at all which irritated me even more. If you mess up and drop the ball why try to argue? It will only intensify the anger of those who believe it was in fact a spoiler. At this point my respect level for the man is less than zero, I can't stand someone who will continuously spoil things for people and then try to justify it. This thread is for your opinion of spoilers and the people who use them (mistakenly or otherwise). This thread was also made as a plea to the community asking people not to spoil things for others; you got the chance to enjoy something; why ruin it for someone else?

Yeah, spoilers are a real bitch. That's why I'm ignoring anything relating to Modern Warfare 2 save the two trailers. I haven't even read the list of weps on the IMFDB.

Spoilers for various media should be thrown inside a spoiler tag (it's what they are meant for. Seriously, it's in the name. Once a subject has become older which I use the personal time of 2 years then I talk about the subject freely. If it's something you were into but, you are two years behind. That is your problem, not mine. if it's something recent like a plot twist in a currently running anime then I would throw the spoiler in some tags and let the person use their own discretion.

My opinion of people who spoil something just for any reason other than an accident slip is rather low but, not enough to get upset over as I personally don't care if something is spoiled I want to see HOW it comes about. Often, I read so far ahead because I want to know all the background information that I tend to spoil things for myself.

Its happened to me so many times I dont really care anymore.

Code Geass, TTGL, F/SN, Higurashi, Cowboy Bebop, NG:E, School Days, Clannad.... Its all been spoiled for me so if it happens, it happens.

Of course Im still going to get kind of pissed if I get spoiled for something else, 'just another one to add to my list'

Yeah that was me I spoiled it, I dont really believe it would have become as big a deal as it did during the conversation, yet someone kept pushing it I usually posted pics of the game, either for advice, to show what I had and get feedback on it or just for fun the Hscenes or w/e...

Yet the one pic I did post mind you I just got to that part I found sad so I decided to post it with "T__T" next to it...

It was a little while after then someone just randomly said "dick move" then began to say how much of a spoiler it was, and the many reasons why it being either part of the plot, or where in the game it was...

So yeah I wasnt trying to make excuses for it since I didnt really find it as a big deal some people might have just looked at it and said hmm thats interesting wonder what happened in that part... since I had just gotten to that part I dont know yet that person continued to talk more and more about it so yeah...

why post pics about plot so late in the game though? you can't help but ruin it for someone.

I can honestly say that If I was playing the game now for the first time and saw what you posted; when I arrived at that point I would have been upset at you.

I still remembered the spoilers I heard for Ever 17 back on MAL. I was so pissed off at the guy. It really did ruin that ultra epic ending. For those of you who have yet played the masterpiece, please don't look for spoilers or the Wikipedia page. You have got to experience it yourself.

I can't deny the fact that I've spoiled other people before, even though they were accidents. I guess if you don't want to be spoiled, you should do more than just blame the guy who spoiled it - you should put in an effort to avoid them as well.

If someone saw that pic for the first time and was thinking of playing the game, they prolly woulda been more interested in how or why it happened, yet when someone takes their time to explain how and why its a spoiler then of course people are going to be mad... especially if they were thinking about playing the game...

Not that it did that much harm to me but if I could /ignore the person or avoid him without having to stop going to CR I would. It really changed my view of who he was.

It sucks when I see a spoiler to something that I'm involved in and something prominent is exposed to me. I can't understand why people can't just put a spoiler tag and a warning that there may be something to spoil the story for others.

I can understand if someone posted a spoiler as an accident and I can let that slide, but if they'd argue that it's not a spoiler or did it on purpose then that's a dick move.

Don't care about spoilers don't care about the people that reveal them. It's not really something I've deemed worthy to get emotional over.

If I get spoiled on something, it's usually a result of my own carelessness. I think I've only been accidentally spoiled (online) maybe once or twice. If I've been spoiled by someone in real life, it hasn't been but maybe once, and it was probably something minor.

When someone spoils something for me, I usually dont care, except if it involves who the main character ends up with and how a certain character dies. It makes me want to drop the person on their ass when they do that.

I hate it when people spoil. It takes the fun of not knowing what's going to happen next and ruins a story. Plus you just made someone sad/angry. Let me guess, "I don't care how they feel" right?

For me, even if it's something not that popular and old, [size=10]Pheonix Wright[/h], I'll still keep quiet of it unless they really, really want to know what happens.

I really hate spoilers; they spoil all the fun of you guessing things. I’m really annoyed by people that carelessly drops spoilers specially those who purposely do it. It's like "Why did you do that?!"

Sometimes it’s also my fault, I browse the net for that specific anime/game and poof I get spoiled. XD

So I always stay away of wiki sites, anime/game discussion threads and the like.

I'm still a bit indecisive about how I should feel about people getting mad over having their stories spoiled.

In a way I'm wondering - it might be more the person who's being spoiled than the spoiler itself at fault for having something ruined. I rarely watch anime, yet I've had one I more than enjoyed spoiled for me halfway through the show, yet it didn't affect my enjoyment in the slightest way. What I think of people that spoil? That depends entirely on their intentions.

The above case did not affect me because I was simply not surprised by it. When I concern myself with a deep story I spend more time figuring it out beforehand than I do on actually reading or watching it, that's where my personal enjoyment lies in. Someone telling me 'she gets killed in the end' doesn't change what I most likely already know or at least strongly suspect, and I keep on reading or watching in order to see all the details compared to my own solution. In order to have something seriously spoiled and ruined for me, I'd have to see the result layed out in front of me going into ridiculous detail, and it's impossible to have something like that quickly told or read by accident.

Now people have different tastes and different expectations in terms of entertainment, but if their imagination is so limited that a spoiler seriously surprises them and their entertainment becomes fragile enough to be easily ruined they might just pay more attention around people sharing this said one fragile interest. I'd go as far as to say that both parties are at fault if something is ruined through a spoiler, but in the end I suppose it's situational and case dependant.
