Most mangaka use reference in their early careers without citing reference. From the drawings I've seen by the artist, the pose was similar, but there are some anatomical differences and the hand positions are changed a bit. The pussy is also drawn in(Which takes skill in the first place).
I don't think citing reference is necissary IMO. Tracing is what's frowned on with DA, seeing as there are plenty of 100k+ artists that take poses/ideas from elsewhere.
Yeah, every one's opinion will be different for this "reference" thing. So please, stop said about what's wrong and right. And follow that rule from me.
And also, don't compare our arts with
stupid 100k+ artists from dA. We are going to be great FAKKU artists, not fucking stupid artists.
Hehe, great. Hmm... stalemate expression as usual. :P
Can you show me an art for girl with umm... Happy faces and such? <special request :twisted: >.
O_O Didn't mean to piss you off, just stating what I knew on the subject and my opinion. I didn't say for the artist NOT to listen to you. I also never said you were wrong. I understand where your stance is, I personally prefer only use reference to get an idea how to pull off a pose and such. (IE, I follow my own anatomy and such.)
As for the DA artists thing, I NEVER said to follow after them OR compared your art or anyone else's art with theirs, I just brought up that following reference (Hell, just ripping off mainstream artists in general) doesn't doesn't seem to be frowned upon enough to hurt them. ^^;
I don't follow their ways of doing business and I don't watch them, so yeah.

Agreed. Though copying early in helps to boost your understanding of lines and such. Ever start with the super small sketchy lines? lol I still can't imagine not using super long, flowy lines.
Yeah, once you shoot past using manga/anime reference for in general-type situation(IE, copying most of the aspects of said drawing), it really feels like the art is yours. I prefer photo references now, actually.
Holy: I'm really digging the shiny colors! Gives it some good depth and life.
Also loving the folds on the shirt of the sketch and the shading.
