My mecha design, a purley fictional robot suit

Im writing this post to explain my idea of a mecha. This is from a story im slowly writing and is largle military and so the descriptions might bore you with the use of military jargon...well enjoy:

Type-56 human propelled exo-armour

Originally designed for rear echelon labour roles, they had been incorporated into the martian army during the Great War(WW3). Throughout the interwar and post war years, the suit had been extensively modeled and designed for combat roles.

The type-56 stands 6 meters tall and has a walking speed of 50km an hr and its back-mounted anti-gravity boosters allows it to fly at 250km an hour. Its designed is an imitaion of a headless humanoid figure and the cockpit is placed in the "chest" area and has a single occupant. The materials is produced from a flexible alloy which gives a very easy mobility and decent protection from small arms.

There are a large variety of variations depending on the role of the model such as siege guns, artillery, close support and marksman. The default variant is armed with a twin linked .50 calibre machine gun, a directed plasma projector, 50mm autocannons or a hunter-killer missile.

In the field, a unit of suits is numbered between 3-5 and are called squadrons. Each unit is lead by an ace and has visual connections of all the suits in the unit. The type-56 is the workhose of the Martian Battlesuits Corps and are highly versatile and flexible in all roles, combat or logistical.

Why would you bother walking if you could just fly at five times the speed? Even if there's a significant energy drain, getting to your destination five times faster would probably make up for it.

Your mech specification kinda reminds me of the Battletech or the Mechwarriors. While there are descriptions for the mech, I'm still wondering why are they fighting after the War. Is there a new threat, some sort of reasons why the mech needs to be used?


I guess he just pointing out if the mech is walking, besides there are certain missions where flying are not allowed to avoid detection or something like that.

I do have some mecha ideas too just to entertain myself. I even drew some of the mecha design. I even did a gundam fan story titled Gundam 0088:The Lost Fleet. I might share it later if this thread is still going that is...

I assumed "flying" also included boosting, i.e. flying along the ground. :P

Well the reason theyre still using the mechs after the war is becuase its like between WW1 and WW2. countrie like germany and britain were designing tanks to beat each other in the next war and they need to be techniologically superior to their enemies.

As for the flying part, the jet pack are designed for jumps not continous flights like airplanes. imagine engaging an army of mechs chargin at you an suddenly they jumped and landed right on top of you. Pretty screwed right?

Ok, so I decided to search through my old drawings and found the drawings and storylines of some of my mecha ideas.

Ok it's the one I have been talking about, Gundam 0088: The Lost Fleet. A story about a lost Earth Federation battleship trying to find their way back to Earth after an error of their destination. In the journey they found an abandoned space research station which contained an experimental Gundam for NewTypes(Humans with psychic power). Taking the Gundam with them, they continues their journey home to Earth but later found themselves being pursued by Zeon soldiers who wanted the experimental Gundam units.The leader of the Zeon forces is a girl who desires to become an ace. The Federation Battleship only had one pilot in their ship, also a girl who decided to pilot the Gundam and goes into the battle. Its a battle of one who desires to become an ace pilot against one who wanted to survive and returns to Earth.

Wow, your drawings are pretty cool lokin. Wish mines were like dat, mines r just oodles i did on my school notebooks dat i did for the sake of it.(teachers borin). Even though im not really a big gundam fan, i like ur story and feel it has merit. Though, y does all meca anime have young girls as the heroine? y couldnt it be a 50 yr ol guy(LOL)

You know what your power armor sounds like to me? Something of a mix between space marine and assault marine from Warhammer 20k: Dawn of War(maybe the board game but I got no clue about that). The part that I don't get is the lack of a helmet and the decision to place the head in the chest/torso area. While that is a more protected/less noticeable area, it is the biggest target area to shoot at.

Ye one of my inspirations are from warhammer 40k, both tabletop n comp game, likely from the sentinels and Tau battlesuits. I dont really wanna make it look like as if it is a large human lokin robot like gundam. so i make it look i suppos more realistic. another reason the lack of "head" is because in a way it is more vulnerable, if it is torn off and the guy goes blind.

lol well that would be true for stuff like mecha but I would think that for a power suit, the lost of the head would mean decapitation.

Alright here is another profile of a mecha. Same storyline but different sides.

M246 battle suit

The M246 was developed by the Coalition first as normal infantry armour but was soon scrapped as the amount of resources and power generator to just keep one suit was too much.

Later as the Martians developed their own suit and the devastation and physiological effect it had forced the Coalition to develop their own suit, and the scrapped concept of the armour had resurfaced.

The M246 is a 6 meters tall battle suit and is equipped with a range of offensive and defensive capabilities. depending on the model. It have a "head" like sensor and is humanoid in shape. Unlike the Martians, the M246 has a jet booster and can manage to have continous flight, albeit at a large cost in fuel.

Compared to it's Martian cousin, the M246 is more slower on foot but can sustain more punishment. the heavier bulk allows it to carry heavier armaments such as a variety of laser artillery and even intercontinental missiles. The new "Hercules" model was developed for the Siege of Jericho and its "arms" had been reinforced with titanium and shock-observers to allow the Coalition to tear down the walls of Jericho with ease

You seems to like a more smaller size mech. I'm interested to see your mech sketch though, at least I have an idea how they would look like.

You know... now that I reread the beginning, I guess it is not a power armor but a mecha... I think it was the 'human propelled exo-armour' thingy that threw me off.

Well i would love to show it if i had a scanner or tablet. But its pretty rough, im not the type of person to clean my drawings up afte i drew em, plus the fact that i drew them during class time(business studies class) so its kind of crude.

I don't mind if its roughly drawn or a doodle. I'm really curios how the mech that you imagine looks like. :)

No worries, I can wait. Maybe I'll share few more of my mecha ideas too. But I'll keep it for some other time.
