First of all i like to say one thing... The Cowboys will never go the the Super Bowl i give them another 3 years before they can even remotly have a chance.
Anyway i like to say that i am having a blast with all the teams that have made it this far especially the J-E-T-S. Who would of thought that a 5th seed would be playing the AFC Championship game.
I know this is late and all but i want to throw my hat in the ring and give my predictions on who is going to play at SUPER BOWL XLIV.
NFC we have the Vikings vs. Saints and all i have to say is that the Saints may have home field but this is where Favre wone his first Super Bowl and i can tell you that there will be some Favre fans in the stands. I predict that this is going to be a good ol fashion shoot out between two great Quarterbacks, dont be surprise if both QB's throw a combine 600+ passing yds. If the Vikings D play as well as they did against Dallas last week then your going to see alot of Brees on the floor. Farve is playing the best season he has ever played in his professional career and might become the first 40 year old QB to play in the Super Bowl. Vikings win 37-32
AFC the Jets vs. the Colts can you believe it the Jets beat the Chargers all thanks too the rookie QB Mark Sanchez. Lets just hope that the Jets still have some more fuel in the tank when they go to face Peyton Manning and the Colts. I believe in the underdog but in this case i have to go with the team that has experience and the Colts are no exception sorry Jets fans but your flight stops at Indy. Colts win 28-12
Colts-Jets - The Jets have played well, but they've overachieved and if Kaeding doesn't miss several highly makeable FGs, the Jets very well might not have gotten that win. Their D is good, but it's hard to completely shut down Manning and the Colts. And the Jets offense simply isn't that good. I don't think they will be able to put enough points on the board to overcome the Colts, even if their defense does play respectably against the Colts.
My pick: Colts win comfortably.
Vikings-Saints - This should be a hard fought game. The Saints shut down the AZ passing attack that looked unstoppable against Green Bay, and the Vikings D-line wreaked havoc on Dallas. Both teams have excellent offenses as well. The Vikings could certainly win, especially if their D-line can get some hits and disruption on Brees, but I think the Saints are the slightly better team overall.
Colts over the Jets in a blowout. The Jets have a good defense, but they go up against another great tight end in Dallas Clark. Gates gave them a lot of trouble in the first half, but the Jets did play zone and they switched back to man where they played a lot better. However, Manning will make the reads and the receivers are much more talented. They'll get open. Defensively, the Colts are better than San Diego. They play faster and they can rush the passer much better with Freeney and Mathis. Look for them to stop the run and then rush the passer when the Jets are down.
Saints over the Vikings. Drew Brees is excellent at getting rid of the ball. Ray Edwards injury to the Vikings' D-Line might hurt them if he's not back. Look for Brees to have plenty of time to pick apart the Vikings weak secondary that might not have a 100% Antoine Winfield. On the other side of the ball, the Saints give up yards, but they do get take aways. While Favre has played a lot better this year, I still feel like he's sort of turnover prone with the way he plays. If this becomes a high scoring game, Favre will end up passing a lot and I think he'll make one too many mistakes to recover from.
If Vikes can get AP going early and control the running game and the lock then they will win the game. If the Saints win the time of possession battle then the Saints will win, the Vikes secondary is suspect to the passing game and Brees will put up a field day if he is given the time to do so.
Well the Saints put a number on Farve and the Vikings, my hats off to the Saints and as far as Farve is concern i think that this is his last game of his carrer but i cant speak for Farve i believe he has one more year in him and i hope he stays with the Vikings
Now we have the #1 in the AFC Colts and the #1 in the NFC Saints for the Super Bowl
This early, I have to go with the Colts. They dismantled the number 1 defense in the league in the second half whereas the Saints struggled to sustain a drive. The Vikings could have won that game easily if they limited the turnovers. However, Kudos to the Saints defense for forcing them.
The Colts though are not going to be so turnover prone. Manning takes much better care of the ball and you know they're going to focus on not fumbling these weeks. The Saints defense is nowhere near as good as the Jets and I look for the same thing to happen. The Saints will blitz early at which point Manning will learn to diagnose them and then start to pick them apart.
But, we'll see... The Saints still have an explosive offense even if they played badly yesterday.
Damn, I really wanted a Manning vs Farve SuperBowl.
Colts v Saints.... I first thought "Colts for the win", but as I look back I'm not so sure right now. This game might actually come down to another field goal winning game.
