One of my new co-workers is Romanian. Not that I have anything against Europeans or anything, but sheesh her English was atrocious. That Romanian accent of hers effectively shut down any chance of efficient communication between me and her and that interrupted the flow at work of course. I tried to be nice to her and greet her after work but after staring at me like a deer in headlights, she stuttered in broken English that she could not understand what I was saying.
That sudden visit made my schedule go crazy.
I woke up at 3 am, and now I'm sleepy... But want to try and keep awake learning japanese using a new plan... *lids close*

Yesterday at work someone of Middle-eastern descent asked me for help finding something they wanted. They spoke perfect English but they had a thick accent so I had trouble understanding them. I knew they wanted coloured paper so I showed them the only coloured paper we did but apparently it wasn't what they wanted. In the end they had to show me what they wanted - printing paper - and it clicked; they wanted coloured printing paper.
(We do plain A4 printing paper and coloured regular paper, not a mixture of the two.)
Not being able to understand them made me feel like such a racist. Thankfully they had patience of steel.
Overheard a random dude complaining about how Violins and Violas are the same thing anyway. Having played both in my junior high orchestra before I seriously wanted to talk to him before coming to my senses.
It seriously annoys me when people underrate the Viola though to be fair it is more of a background instrument than something for solo performances like the Violin.
There's going to be a blizzard tonight. I've never experienced a blizzard before having grown up in California so this is definitely going to be... interesting.

Good luck. The worst ones cause power outages over several days.
