I believe it is the members that make a forum successful.
@ShaggyJebus: Perhaps it is due to a lack of topics which led to the anime discussion section of the forum you mentioned being neglected. Why don't you try starting a couple of new topics in that section over there to garner interest among members? There are times when everyone thinks that somebody else will do it.
I thought about doing that. I just need to spend a little more time searching around that forum to see
exactly how it works. It looks really bad, really messy, and there are about a dozen mods who could bring the banhammer down on me, so I don't want to do something that could get me banned. Even though it wouldn't be too big a deal, it still feels kind of bad to get banned.
Another thing about this convention's forum - the guy in charge of the convention, the con-chair or whatever, is of course an admin, and he makes tons of stickies where he is pretty much promoting his life outside the convention. He had one sticky where he was asking people to vote for his photographs in some contest. It seemed like an abuse of power. The pictures he took had nothing to do with anime, or the convention, so they're not related at all, and he felt the need to not only make a topic asking for votes, but to make a
sticky? I mean, if Jacob entered a contest and needed votes, I'd throw some votes at him, but I think that Jacob would know not to put something on the front page that isn't related to the site at all.
