Weird... Does it delete pieces of her or what?
Err, well. It'd be best if I show you.
See how in the main picture, the curves and stuff are all smooth and stuff?
That's what it looks like when I'm done with it.
I rushed it, but those parts still look like that even if I take my time.
Does that happen to everyone? Is it normal?
Should I just ignore it? xD
I know what the problem was. It was the tolerance level on the magic wand. I'll try to explain how it works by giving an example.
Let's say you want to select the background behind a character, so you can delete it and make your own background. And let's say you still have the black lineart on the character. And the background is
dark grey. If you have a high tolerance level, and select the background, the lineart - because it's a very similar colour- may be selected too. How to solve this? Simply lower the tolerance. This works for colours too.
That is what happened in your picture. See that area on her left buttcheek that got all weirdly cut? That's because the colours are too similar (the brown of her butt and the pink of the background), and the tolerance was too high for that. You simply had to lower the tolerance and voilá.
Important note: You should NOT use the magic wand for works like this (/colour works. Specially when what you wanna select is a gradient - like your picture, the background is a gradient of white to pink). You can though use if it's a vector image with really distinct colours.
For this you should've used the pen tool. It's the best tool for this. I reccomend you see some tutorials and try to get used to using it (it's not that hard really)
Useful tip concerning the pen tool: When you're making a curve, and then you want to make a sharp turn, hold alt+ click the last point you made, and now the next curve you make isn't influenced by the curve you were previously doing. (try doing it and you'll understand what I mean)
