If the thread is not already over, then here is my 2 cents worth of opinion.
I'm not really sure a thread like this could ever be totally over. Lots of people have the same opinions, but there's always going to be some degree of variation from on perspective to another. I've seen a lot of responses that I've agreed with, but there's still more to it all, IMO.
#1: Personally, I don't really have that problem. I have friends that don't share all the same interests as I do, but if I can't be on a similar wavelength with another person, at least the slightest, I don't really see the point in hanging out with them all too much. I pick my friends wisely, well the close ones. I've had "friends," pretty close one, at least I thought, to the point where I had a bunch of fake Bloods wanting to kill me for some shit I didn't even do.
Too much of a rant, but that's kind of where I'm coming from. For me its not a matter of gender, its a matter of trust in general. I can see where some guys would be intimidated by hanging out with girls that like to do the shit they do. It would be really awkward if you're chilling with a girl and having fun and shit, then you do something that you would do around you're guy friends and she finds it totally inappropriate. Then there's the possibility of gender being an issue itself. There's always all this crap in society about guys and girls hooking up, going out, or getting involved as more than just friends, so its can be kind of weird especially when the guy has feeling for the girl he's chilling with.
#2: I don't find myself doing it a lot, but if I do, its personality related. It is kind of a superficial thing to do. Its alright to have an idea of what your dream girl is even if, to an extent, she is based off an anime character, but its not right to let that become your expectation of prospective significant others.
#3: I actually see this a lot. This seems to be more common with the guys who are just looking to "get in and be out" or the ones who don't have any idea what to look for in a girl. There's also the possibility that the girl might actually have some substance to her character. Its kind of a long shot that you'll encounter a plastic girl who isn't a total bitch, but sometimes you get the full package, looks and personality. More than anything, if I had to take a guess I would think its the overbearing pressures of a society that has become more focused on the outward appearance as opposed to substance and quality of character.
#4: If there is one thing I like more than anything, its observing people. You know, figuring out what they think and all that shit, but I have yet to find a rational explanation as to why the faux-hawk even exists. Personally, I think its fucking gay and pretty much every time I see one, I feel the overwhelming urge to set the person's head on fire.
