Starship Troopers: Invasion. 8/10
This movie single-handedly restored my faith in this franchise. Moving away from the bottom-list actors, this newest addition to the series makes a shift to full CGI animation. While it's by no means perfect, the straight-forward plot and fast-paced action makes this flick pretty damn enjoyable and easy to get into. That said, I did have a few problems. Mainly, there were just too many characters introduced in this movie. Most of which had very little development time. So, when they died, you don't really care. This is made even worse when they all wear armored suits that makes them look almost the same, making it hard to tell who the hell just died. Worth a rent. If you're a die-hard fan of the original movie, then you'll likely enjoy this one.
The Dark Knight Rises. 6/10
I'm not going to lie, I was extremely disappointed with this movie for a number of reasons. It's hard to say what Nolan was trying to do with this movie. The pacing seems horribly off. Switching from a few minutes of intense action and fighting to over half an hour of unnecessary dialogue. Also, why were 3 of the best actors in this movie (Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Gary Oldman) all pushed aside to make room for a plot that I honestly found to be stupid and absolutely riddled with holes.
More of my problems listed below. Heavy spoilers.
Batman getting over his crippled leg with some sort of bionic brace, which seems like it could've been a devastating weapon (as he destroys a brick wall with a kick) but is never really used. Seems like a cheap fix to a plot point and a waste of a potential
Chekhov gun.
How the hell did Bane get that much explosive concrete poured in Gotham? That would've taken a couple of years of planning before the movie started. No city has funding for that much construction in the span of a few months. Especially if they've been fighting a full-time crime war for the last few years.
Batman has his broken back (and apparently his knee) fixed in a prison. When he gets back to Gotham, he seems perfectly fine. That shouldn't be medically possible.
How the fuck did Batman even get back to Gotham? He had no money, nobody knew where he was, and he escaped from a prison that was likely in the middle of nowhere.
Bane get's a
bridge dropped on him.
Batman miraculously survived a nuclear explosion. (With less than 5 seconds, there's no way he could've escaped the blast.)
