I originally got it when I was on antidepressants that made it extremely difficult to finish, so I had to make sure I got something that would last.
:O
Woah, that explains why ever since I started taking those in middle school it got tougher for me. Damn.
Well that's annoying... :\
Antidepressants actually even lower the sexual libido for most people too. Especially
SSRIs are nasty ones. I was given some SSRIs for my panic attacks, but I'm not taking them,
I'm just telling my doctor that I do take them. Too many nasty side effects. Like increased suicidal ideation (especially in people under 27 or was it 30, cant remember)[/h], possibly
permanent loss of sexual libido, can make it harder for women to get orgasms, helps men with premature ejaculation (BUT after stopping the medication, the premature ejaculations are usually worse than before the medication)[/h]. And there's many many other nasty side effects too, but you can read about at least some of them in wikipedia.
Many of the prescription drugs have nasty side effects that doctors know about, still they give them to people without even telling them about them (money money money, more important than the patient). So everyone should do people should do some googling before starting to take drugs and not just blindly believe in doctors.
Off-topic, I know. A whole thread about this would be interesting...
a very very bad idea `*facepalm*
Did you get yours from a GP or from a proper psychiatrist?
Every single drug has side effects (a simple every day OTC drug like aspirin can kill you). If your doc didn't tell you of the common side effect then he's doing a bad job, but you can't expect him to state every single one on every single drug to every single patient, that's why drugs come with a package slip. Suicide is a possible side effect of SSRI but a rare one. Considering the poor effects and really nasty side effects of the old antidepressants(especially the tricyclic ones) SSRI are a blessing. Lower sexual libido is unfortunately a common side effect, but one can always talk to the doc about lowering the dose or switching meds.
and yes a thread about this is required ;) *spam off*
