Swallowing Pills

Yay for random mood to create topics!

Anyway, have a slight fever and headache so I went to take a couple of pain relievers and it made me remember that I have a horrible time with swallowing pills.

I mean I can swallow them now, and even swallow two at a time, but up until I was probably about thirteen my parents would have to crush my pills because I just wouldn't swallow them because I would always nearly choke the few times I tried.

My mother used to give me this story about how when she was little she didn't like to swallow pills either. One time she was deathly ill and she had to take this pill, which she claimed to be about the size of a nickel, or she was going to die. Ah leave it to mothers to try and scare you into submission with stories like that.

Anyway, eventually got over that, but even now I sometimes have to try swallowing a couple of times to get the pills to go down or drink and absorbant amount of water. I do think it is getting easier over the years, but still a bit annoying and perhaps embarrassing.

Anyone else have trouble taking pills or other medicine for one reason or another?

Yeah back when I was younger I also had a tough time taking pills, mostly because no matter how hard I tried I just couldn't get the damn pill down my throat lol. So I did have to use the chewable ones for a bit but then once I was able to start swallowing the normal pills I've been doing it ever since, no problem.

I hate Pepto Bismol...

I rather swallow a quarter than a suppository.

Ironically I'm allergic to that. Makes me break out in hives.

Anyway, said that for a reason. As a result before I knew I was allergic to that, my doctor made me take some weird liquid with it that was supposed to be lemon flavored. Quite possibly the worst thing I have ever tasted in my life. First time I spit it back up it was so absolutely horrible. Thankfully I only had to take it for like three days. >.<

Don't remember what the doctor said, but I'm assuming I'm allergic to bismuth subsalicylate, since nothing other than that liquid pink shit has ever given me a reaction like that. >.<

I've never had this problem. And I sincerely thought people who said this same thing were being pussies that just thought they would choke on it, and "you see what you want to see" would come into play. But I guess some people do have problems with this.

Was it Buckley's or that gross lemon-tea crap... I swear I vomit every time I had to take that unsavory concoction. I think it was called Neo-citrin something?

Swallowing pills is really never an issue for me unless they are big. Then they just make me puke up the pill and my lunch.

I used to drink 21 pills a day. Yay me. Learned to swallow without needing water, otherwise by the time I finish I'll be bloated.

I don't remember what it was called, this was many years ago. I just distinctly remember thinking it was the worst taste ever.

never really had a problem. Maybe the bitter taste of swallowing crushed pills pushed me to swallow them whole. :)

oh, but there was one time I have to swallow a huge pill, when I got the dengue fever. My mom gave me a Chinese herbal pill, and it was big.

Oh well, never got problem with swallowing peelz, I mean pills. If it's a huge one I just drank more water with it.

When i was smaller, my pills had to broke into half tilli could swallow them with water. Nowadays thou i can swallow them whole lol, i have Hay fever.

never hadn't any problem with swallowing pills ever since i was little, but had a problem swallowing Chinese herbal before, i was having a swollen throat or Pig head skin in chinese reference to the sickness. my mom make a herbal soup i don't what the ingredient is but i did see a dry seahorse in the soup. the smell was so horrible i rather die than drinking it. the taste was terrible, that after drinking it, you'll pass out instantly.

that was the worse experience in my in entire life. but it did heal me so i should be thankful to my mom and that herbal soup.

I as well had a problem swallowing pills when I was young, and then one day, I just thought to myself that, wtf, I swallow candy, food and other shit that's 4 time larger every day, it shouldn't be to hard... and after that day I can swallow pills without problem, with or without water.

TRY SUCKING DICK AND SWALLOWING MAN JUICE, IT SHOULD BE GOOD PRACTICE FOR PILL SWALLOWING

I had that problem when I was little but the pill was the size the of the pill was 5/7ths the size of the end joint of your pink finger. But probably now, I could swallow it...

I took swallow vitamines for a while, so at this point i can dry swallow pills.

I have totally no problem with swallowing pills, just 1 sec to swallow or I will puke like never before... it gets worse all the time
