[Locked] The deletion of posts.

So, it's happened twice over the past 24 hours, I have seen two of my posts disappear... Neither post broke any rules. I just want to know what the guidelines for deleting posts are, is it based on content that you don't like or could it be influenced by your opinion of said poster? Perhaps simply adding a mod edit and why you had to edit the post might be a better solution as opposed to outright removing content you don't like. Also i would like to hear any ideas the user base may have as to possible soloutions besides outright deletion of posts. If you don't agree with me I would like to hear that as well and perhaps your reasons.

p.s. the thread I'm referring to is the mike commission thread.

Deleting posts that aren't breaking the rules is mod abuse isn't it?

Shouldn't a topic of this nature be in support or directed towards a staff member directly? We can all discuss it until we're blue in the face, but unless it happened to be some soft of glitch than the staff had some reason and there is little we can do to comfort you, and this seems like the last place the staff is going to hear you. XD

A few of my posts get deleted every now and then, but the deletion of some border on censorship. I don't think FAKKU! is China, so I don't think it is the Mods job to delete anything they deem unsavory.

im not looking for sympathy, just want to hear ideas as to a better way to deal and perhaps what each mods standards towards this type of moderation is... (p.s. i know some of the staff will be reading this)

I'm not surprised to see this thread. Don't you think it would have made more sense to pm the mods and talked to them yourself as to why your posts are being removed - versus making it a public debate about why your posts are being removed?

We're very unlikely to know the information you want. Talking to the mods seems more logical.

The thing is the staff have every right to delete any questionable content they deem to be as such. Not saying that they would, but they have every right. It's the same general ToS agreement across the internet. We are here at a service of those who created the site, and they have the right to alter it in anyway they see fit.

I still don't think censorship is a valid response to anything they don't like. I understand moderation, but I think there is a difference. Some people here want everyone to just get along and be friends; that is an unrealistic goal and I don't think that censorship is the way to make that happen. It causes more distrust and tension, taking us further from that goal.



That isn't what this is about, it is about the reasons a post can be deleted so that people can avoid having their posts deleted. If he had simply PMed a mod, not everyone would know these guidelines, so I feel it makes sense to post this is a public venue.

1. I don't know which mod deleted it and rather then send out 10 pm's I decided to find out if anyone else had any ideas.

2. What is the problem with public debate? I already said I didn't need light shed on why my posts were deleted from the user base, I asked them if they have any ideas or opinions on a better way to deal with posts that are deemed inappropriate.

again, you fail to see my point, even after repeating the point twice... why am I not shocked you would have something to say...

as far as the mods having every right to do as they wish with the content on this sites, I agree... It's not the posts that are in question, I don't feel wronged by the deletion, I simply want to know what the guidelines are so I can avoid having my posts deleted, when the mods don't "like" the content, in the future.

If you don't know which mod to go to, why not have the brilliant idea of going to the administrator? That seems logical.

This isn't a pity party for someone who has had their posts/threads deleted/locked, this is a place to discuss the guidelines of what constitutes a reason to delete posts.

No, I'm not being a bitch. But this thread seems stupid because Waar is butt hurt that his posts are being removed from one thread.

If it was removed then obviously the mod who felt the need to do it had a reason. If Waar doesn't understand why it's being removed he goes to the administration about it - not the general population of Fakku in case they haven't noticed his 2 posts that were deleted. His one post that was removed was simply him asking Mike why he removed his first post - so I don't know why Waar is acting as if he has no idea which Mod deleted his post. He could have just pmed Mike.

As for what we think about the deletions of posts, I'll go with this guy:

p.s. why would I pm Mike, it's not like I know he did it, I would come off as an idiot if I simply went around pm'ing mods with accusations. Instead I brought it to public debate, why is that a bad thing? For the third time, the public question in this post is not meant to question the moderators actions, it's simply meant to seek another possible solution.

Okay I have been trying to stay away from this place but seeing as Ziggy is a friend of mine, I will say this to TMS Do not bring personal grudges and attacks into a debate, please. I do see what Waar is trying to get at, there really is no set in stone guidelines outside of certain forum rules for specific forums. That is a Valid point of argument, as to question why.

But then if you look at what a few have said, if you want to bring up a topic of discussion like this it would be best to keep your personal connection out of it. As Waar stated int he first post that two of his post were deleted, bringing a personal connection to it. People will draw from that connection, to it and assume that this is a bitchy rant about "why my post were deleted". I am not saying that this is such but seeing the experiences I have had here in the past, it's what people will boil it down to.

But then I'm posing a different argument to this, if you were to think about it, logically, you are only conveying the option that the post were deleted by a mod/admin. There is still the possibility of a hiccup in the system could have deleted them and others. As I haven't been here for about a month or so I can not say for certain if this has or has not happened.

But as it is stated, it would be logical to query with the site administration as to ask for some form of set in stone guidelines. As well as it has been stated, it is up to each individual moderator to do their job as they see fit. If it is something you disagree with then you disagree with it.

TL;DR Shit happens deal with it.
