The title is sort of self explanatory. Disregarding whether your current musical tastes match up, what kind of tunes were you forced (coerced?) into listening to when you were younger?
My mother saturated my childhood with country music while my father preferred jazz and classic rock- smooth jazz on Sundays. They made me watch Madame Butterfly (opera, for those of you not in the know) on public television when I was young as punishment for wanting to stay up beyond my 9 o'clock bedtime. That one backfired, since later I started belting Puccini into my hairbrushes.
Horrible swedish songs for children. Horrid stuff that children are supposed to enjoy and that is educational aswell.
Swedish Pop music, also horrible.
When I got older, it was classic rock from my dad.
being in a multi racial country. i guess im raised listenin to all kinds of music though ive been listenin to japanese songs more. i hardly listen to english and chinese songs now compared to when i was younger
Anything and everything that involved a turntable, from old school rap to modern day hip-hop. A little bit of grunge, sub-pop, and 90's rock. Some classical as well, I was in top performing choirs in middle and high school, so Carmen and the like graced my ears.
Some Russian shit. and believe me when I tell you this Russian music sucked even though I lived in Russia and it all I could hear. I'm glad I found the stuff I've been waiting to hear after I got to America.
Just one of many examples of the shit I had to listen to
The first CD i ever had was Bad Hair Day by Weird Al.The 2nd was gorillaz(self titled), the third was "Frankenstein Girls will seem strangely sexy" by Mindless Self Indulgence, which is still my favorite album today.
My parents and I pretty much have the same tastes in music. Lots of Classic Rock, Blues, Metal, and Grunge. Except from time to time my mother would inflict Bonnie Rait on me.......yeah. *shudder* My taste in music really hasn't changed, but now I've discovered I dig the Funk.
