For this bad kid... get him all the gifts he wants but (if he still believes in Santa Claus), fake a letter where Santa says he's watching, and comes with his gifts only after he sees that said child was behaving well. And that this observation might take a loooooot of time.
If he doesn't believe in Santa, just tell him that he gets gifts only when he starts to behave.

No he became a jerk yelling at his teachers just because of his father's system of rewards for grades... and went on and on, this guy can't do anything without seeing some solid reward in it.
It was probably partly because of his personality, but still... this fucked him up even more.
My parents did this with me and I'd say it turned out quite nicely. I did all my school work and got good grades so I could get a bicycle in elementary, and eventually in highschool I got my first car.

It seems I share a rather different thought, I think that even a bad children should be able to celebrate christmas. For a child to be in a christmas celebrating family, every year would be filled with anticipation, and I believe that we shouldnt play any pranks nor give anything that "punish" the child. When Children do naughty stuff, you normally consult and punish them on the spot, why even recording it to evaluate for their christmas presents??
I dont feel it serves any educational purposes rather then bringing up old issues that have been settled, and forcing the child to be better next year when they probabbly forget it a few weeks later. Its Christmas, kids shouldnt be given a bad impression of it, at least at christmas, give them satisfaction, not to the extend of what you cant afford of course. They are just KIDS!
tl;dr? Dont turn christmas into a "yearly-evaluation" day, make it a day that you and your whole family can spend together happily.
