That's the reason Fakku is "dying" tho, because we don't have to. There are so many, and 80% of them free, hentai websites these days and most of them either look better, work better or are actually free (now that Fakku isn't).
The only thing Fakku has nowadays is the forums which are populated by some of the best friends I've ever made but because of things like Skype, Discord and Teamspeak I don't have to use the forum to actually communicate with them so even that goes down the drain.
Actually I intended to contradict myself. There are some big barriers to entry (e.g. name recognition, SEO) that would really hurt someone's attempt to start up a competing service. It would be really hard to pull it off but I suppose someone determined enough could actually do it. Part of that point is that FAKKU is undeniably a success by certain metrics. Yes it has many flaws, a lot of issues don't get fixed. Nobody has to remind me what exactly is wrong.
You can say FAKKU is worse because it's not free access. But that's only from the perspective of the "free" user. From FAKKU's perspective that's not true at all. FAKKU is now one out of only two (afaik) prominent English H-manga publishers. If you can prove that there's enough consumer demand for English hentai then you have an opportunity to build a sustainable business. I believe FAKKU has done so, and as far as I can tell they're now expanding their operations. You can't just do that if you're unsuccessful.
As for the forums and community... I'm not sure. Maybe it's dwindling but I think that started long ago. A lot of forum users don't even use this site to browse hentai anymore. This place is mainly a communication hub for them and for the most part there won't be any difference. I mean nosebleed and requests are going away but I figured those were kind of dead already. I don't know, we'll see about the community.
Anyway the bottom line is that sure, ultimately not everyone wins but that doesn't mean FAKKU is sunk. I'm sure traffic to the site will fall dramatically after scans are removed. Is it going to die? I don't have any reason to believe that.
I think FAKKU is changing, and not dying. For better, for worse I guess people can decide for themselves but I'm pretty sure this site will be around for
at least 5 more years. If that holds true how can anyone reasonably say it died? Maybe it's dead to you, but as someone who is very satisfied with what FAKKU has accomplished so far in the publishing business, I believe it is very much alive. I'm more excited than I've ever been for hentai. I'm absolutely thrilled by what I've gotten so far as a customer and what's to come in 2016.
So for every time someone says hey this site is dead just go to ex or nhentai I feel the need to stick my nose in and say hey, give FAKKU a chance. This isn't a black and white story. Free stuff isn't the world, and the reality is that nothing is truly free. Everything has a basic cost, and that's time. Many hard working people put their time into making all of this possible, so why not just consider for a second that what they're doing doesn't suck?
