So do tell, What are these "other legit avenues" that Fakku could have taken? Feel free to pour in your suggestion, fakku is all ears for every
Realistic proposition.
Scanlations were removed because they were illegal. You can't run a legit selling business while still operating as a piracy site. Go Ask 2008 CrunchyRoll the experience of being legit while still uploading unlicensed fansubs.
No one who has been suggesting this has been able to produce a realistic solution. They all assume that a business would be glad to engage in illegal activities just for some small, no-name company. (Fakku is still largely a no-name company in the entire scope of things)
I'm still shocked Wani was willing to allow these sort of things but I'm guessing it's either due to:
A. Jacob and co. are good at negotiating
B. Wani already had some inkling of wanting to tap into the western market
C. Wani business people are really proactive/open-minded.

So would you import their manga and magazines instead? They still need to be paid. Heck, despite the knee-jerk reaction, people still doesn't give proper credit to scanlations even when they have to pay the cost of getting the raws, hiring page cleaners, translators and editors for each chapter.
How much money have you donated to a scanlation group?
That's the sad thing. For how much people say they felt betrayed, it's more likely than not that they have never once contributed to the scalation scene.
Unless you're the leader or maybe the translator, you will get almost no credit whatsoever. Sure your name is on the credits page but most people skip that, you have to find self-satisfaction in it. Or even worse, they remove the credits page which is a big "Fuck You" to the team.
The main people who contribute are those paying for these translation through commissions or the e-hentai bounty system, which is just a decent size group of people.
