What I am interested to find out is how well vista works as well as what the major differences are from Windows XP. I know that word and office are vastly improved (in my opinion). However, I have heard that vista can be a memory hog thus making it bad for gaming.
Does anyone in the forum have vista/know anything about it?
I cant remember where i read the article. but it appears that MS is working on thier next OS already to surpass vista and the reported due date is 2009.
I'm confident in my current machine. (Windows XP Media Center Edition), but I skinned it with Vista. Even though, it's not the original Vista, it looks just like it. Right down to the loading screen and user selection. I've been using various Vista skins for a few months now, but I think I've finally settled and found the right matching one.
Btw, the code name for the next OS is Windows Vienna.
ITs really a matter of how much flash you want. Vista has some nice features, but they eat up processor and memory like it was their job. Personally I prefer to reserve those for other things (games, music, video). I think what would be awsome would be super customizable windows where the base is pretty much the kernel and not much else. And you can add on features as you please.
Vista sucks. Nuff said. It eats your computers RAM like no tomorrow. I use my computer for Gaming. Upgrading to Vista is a very bad idea if you are a Gamer. The security thing that keeps poping up asking you to allow this allow that. For fuck sakes I can't organize a folder with folders of images in it by size. I click it it does nothing. I have to zip all the folders in order to size organize em.
Whilst 7 will be superior, I personally couldn't live without indexing and the start search now, and SP1 got rid of any problems I'd had before. Generally good ideas, terrible implementation.
