Not at all. Linux isn't as complicated as it used to be. Hell, you could burn Ubuntu as a .iso file and have a trial DVD to run on your computer so you can use Windows and Ubuntu at same time for awhile to see if you like it or not, and if you do you can install Ubuntu straight from the DVD.
Really the most complicated thing is removing/editing the partitions on your hard drive from Vista, but that only implies if you want to dual-boot between Linux and Windows, if you are going to wipe the computer and go straight Linux you wouldn't have to worry about that step at all.
