Wow Microsoft...

So, my Xbox 360 red ringed a week ago, and I thought I would check to see if my warranty still existed to see if I could get a free repair. Well, come to find out my warranty ran out 4/28/2007.

But wait, something is definately wrong with that number...

Xbox 360 customers are covered by a standard 3 year warranty.

Xbox 360 was launched 11/22/2005.

The warranty didn't even last 3 years from the day it was launched...

Even IF I did buy the Xbox 360 on launch date it should have lasted 'til 11/22/2008.

So...

maybe it's 3 years from the day they actually produced the unit? Either way it looks like you got fucked, but I doubt there'll be much you can do about it. Sorry, dude.

well thats the way it is in germany, don´t know if it is the same in america.

Warrenty is 3 years. I'd be making some repeated phone calls until you get someone who can count.

Don't bother with a Best Buy black tie on that one. It only lasts 2 years and they do not cover the red ring. That's like the only black tie protection I hated selling in the store, usually they're pretty decent.

Well just send in your 360. If your warranty should last till 11/22/08 then there should be no problem. That's what I did. If you haven't sent it in yet, you better soon.

Even at 2 years, it STILL doesn't cover the two years if it runs out 4/28/2007. And that's still considering the fact that it was from the LAUNCH date 11/22/2005. I thinke we're missing about 7 months, and tha'ts more than half a year. So in reality the warranty would have only lasted 1 year and 5 months and that's from the LAUNCH date. I think I got mine around January or February of 2006 which means I got shafted by a mile.

But it said 3 years when I was on the site so I'll go with 3 years.




I was thinking about calling them, but there's no point since even with having 3 year warranty I think mine REALLY ran out around last month. :/

Well, I think I got mine on January so I think I'm one month late... and as I said, this was on the Xbox 360 customer support site, and they said my warranty was terminated 4/28/2007...

Well at any rate it's best to just send it in. I don't think it should cost that much to get it repaired. A lot cheaper than buying a new 360.

all those talking about thee red ring brings back memory when I had mine...
the 360 was delivered 24.12.2005 and it was broken(nice christmas present amazon)........so i sent it in and got a new one.

I played with that one couple of times and after some of month it got stranges failures like texturefragments....so I stopped playing with it.

because i needed money at the end of 2006 I sold it to a guy in austria, and when he started playing with it he got the red ring :lol:

so he called me to set up my xbox360 service account on his name so he could send it.......worst move guy.

I ended up telling mircosoft that the new owner is that guy,but when he sent it in, MS said the the warranty is only valid for the first owner who was me.....in fact he had to paid 150 € to get a new repaired one + 1 year additional warranty.

back in the middle of 2008 I bought an xbox 360 again and played with it quite a while befor I ended up giving it to my brother.
I might get it back to flash the DVD-ROM so I don´t have to paid an unreasonable high prie for the game which are mostly shitty anyway.

so what I saying is, if you send your 360 in and the warranty is not valid.
they will over you the option to repair it for a certain price or to send it back to you, but then you will have to pay for the delivery and the service effort.

Bought mine about one year ago and I've never had any problem with it at all. Had lots of friends who got the infamous red ring of death and other random malfunctions but mine has remained a trusty servant through the year I've had it.

And from the information I was able to dig up the warranty lasted 2 years ( In Sweden though ).

$100 to get it fixed. That's the cost of almost 2 games. Not too happy about that...



All the Xbox's produced after a certain month in 2007 are "refurbished" meaning they won't get the Red Ring of Death (RRoD). At least that's the assumtion. Apparently the RRoD is caused by the heat sink being placed too close to the CPU of the 360. Quite a retarded way to have your system break down...

Seems Sweden got shafted in the deal for warranty then... >_>

Hey at least it's cheaper than buying a new 360. But it's really up to you.
