your ISP

just curious. what ISP are you guys using and how fast is it?

i'm using telkom speedy, speed max 1 Mbps but realistically i only got about 600 - 700 Kbps. it cost me about 20$ a months for 50 hours, and over quota cost 15 cents a hour.

damn. my DL is only 60 - 70 Kbps, 80 if I'm REALLY lucky. downloading eroge is a bitch...

why would you use telkom speedy when you can use fastnet? and why don't you use the unlimited one? if it's for better downloading those eroges, its a gift

i live on samarinda, and there's no fastnet here. the unlimited package cost 75$ a month, while my usage, plus the over quota only cost 40$, 45$ tops. and those telkomsel flash 'unlimited' actually have a quota of 3 Gb, after that the speed drops from 7,2 Mbps into 96 Kbps (that means DL speed 9 Kbps).

I'm using Virgin Broadband.

My average speed would be around 203 kbps.

Huh, weird. Your UL is lower than the cap, and mine is higher than the cap. We should be at about 250 kb/s with uploading speeds, but I got closer to 380 kb/s.

life is fair, it's just hard to get a nice ISP at our place mixboy....

i know. the good ones have unreasonably high prices. telkomsel flash unlimited full speed (7,2 Mbps) w/o quota is 10$ a day... and the new IM2 14,4 Mbps unlimited is 900$ a months.

...how fast is fastnet anyway? you're using it, right?

yeah i'm using it, it is not very far from yours, it's about 100Kbps download speed at maximum, but it's unlimited for real, so i can just leave my comp overnight for downloading multiple huge downloads and it'll be done

There are multiple bandwidth testers. Try http://www.speedtest.net/ it is arguably the most popular.

Apparently it only works on 32-bit... I'm running 64...
