I'm fairly certain everyone knows Quebec's stance, and I agree with their reasoning, I just think they're acting obnoxious. Everyone has to deal with the government it isn't WORSE because the guy we voted in wasn't from Quebec
It's not the topic so i'm not gonna start a discussion on this but i would just like to clarify it .
It's not because he's not from quebec , we just hate every federal governement that canada had for the last 30 years . People don't understand but our culture is totaly different in quebec from the rest of the canada . The principal thing is that we don't speak english , we speak french and it's really important for us that we keep it that way. We are the province that get the least monetary help from the governement for any cultural aspect . Not only that but they do everything they can so that the english take more place in quebec and we don't want that at all . We have nothing against the canada , we like canadians but they don't want to aknowlege that we are not like them and that we won't be like them . All they do is trying to assimilate us .
So, your stance on the position of the Quebec provincial government would be that 'yes we want to separate, and yes we want to take the Canadian economy with us?'
(I figure if you REALLY want to separate, do it. But start your own economy. The current Canadian one has been hard worked on by everyone in Canada and no one is 'happy' with where the Federal government has left them. If you want to leave, fine, but you're not taking the currency which has earned it's place internationally after a hundred years of work. Rather than simply shouting out 'no one understands us we want to leave, you should appeal to people and as 'please visit, and understand us and try to change the government in such a way everyone will e happier'. I believe the current view points are extremely selfish, although justified, given the current state of things, but over the past 200 years of work blood, sweat, and tears to create what we have today. And to be honest, I wouldn't want Quebec to separate. It would be like spitting in the face of all those from Quebec who died in WWI and II. My grandfather was an honorable man and fought with a whole variety of people and I assume, many people from Quebec [He never told any war stories I learn all of this from old newspapers that talked about my grandfather] I don't believe that the souls of the dead would appreciate all of their hard work ruined because some people couldn't communicate with each other properly)
I understand the need for cultural acknowledgement, however the base requirement should not be seperation. It ccan be solved other ways. Ontario itself has barely 60% of english speaking people. (By this I mean people that have english as a first langauge) There are so many different and varying cultures in just Toronto alone, and they all want acknowledgment as well. Each province was founded with differing ideals. Also, on the not of cultural displacement, Quebec may be entirely different, I respect that, but they aren't alone in that fact and they shouldn't imply that the rest of Canada WANTS them to be anything other than Quebecois. People in the three territories speak english, but almost all of them have differing original languages that are neither english or french nor recognized by the government as official. And, moving from the linguistic topic, they have beliefs and cultural status that NONE of us in southern Canada could even begin to comprehend, upon our first meeting. And yet they are here, because regardless of how shit tier the government is, every person makes up that which is Canada. And, regardless of the problems between each other, they will just bring us closer. Eventually this stuff will all blow over and everyone will begin to understand the differences in each other that make up the whole of our country, but until then we just need to be patient, and wait. We can only educate so may people at a time and many refuse to listen.
---Ontario and Quebec have been in the country from the beginning, if anything were to happen to either province, it would prove fatal to the rest of the country. This country was literally built on the co-operation of two entirely different peoples and has lasted two centuries. It would be a shame, a waste, and downright idiotic to put an end to it because one hundred men couldn't put their emotions in to words---

Thank you for your input, all of you.
I've done a bit of research and found THIS.article.
The bill. Is. OUTRAGEOUS.
"Require internet service providers to give subscriber data to police and national security agencies without a warrant, including names, unlisted phone numbers and IP addresses."
What? Meaning someone can track every single thing you do on the internet at any given time?
"Force internet providers and other makers of technology to provide a "back door" to make communications accessible to police."
WHAT?!
Is this Orwell all over again? Do they even think?
I'm sorry for flaming like this but this, "ça me met sur le cul" as you'd say in french(gets me on my ass, meaning I'm too astounded to stand).
Do they even know what they are doing?
Yes, to be honest the way to put this government out of peoples homes and electronics may turn out to be a civil revolution. Not just because of this, however, but because of many smaller things coming together and this item has the potential to make it all blow. "The straw that broke the camels back" as it were.
These people have no interest in learning about the society and culture which is the internet itself. They are, for the most part, too old to begin to comprehend the varieties as well as unable to appreciate that which makes the internet so popular.
There is a service known as "Cogeco Cable" it is a phone, cable, and internet service which provides internet to Quebec and Ontario. It has already sided with the Harper government and has sent out letters of approval to all of it's customers without getting their consent. On torrents they throttle down the speed and in some cases, completely cut off port access. On other p2p clients they have all of the mainstream ones blocked on their servers to prevent access to foreign data that is not covered under the new 'law'. This is not the only internet service to do so, this is simply one of the more popular. Other agencies/companies include: Bell Canada, Rogers, Telus, Montreal-DSL, Tamco Tech, PrimeLight, and quite a few more as well.
And no, they don't yet realize that there are people from the internet that will kill to protect it, as well as people that have he ability to hack just about any system to get what they need. They do not know what they are doing, and soon they will realize just how foolish a notion it was to begin their attempt at 'policing; the internet was with poor excuses like child pornography.
-/- Also, I believe that any Canadian citizen that actually believes any of this bollocks is not truly Canadian or has some serious IRL issues which are taking their attention away from whats really going on.
