There could be an ass-load of reasons for that choice that have nothing to do with race.

That was actually a psychological study that I did in the 1st year of psychology. The main cause was race and the way they saw themselves. (If this next segment sounds racist, I apologize I'm just trying to explain the study)
A sample of several White and black childeren (both genders) were asked numerous questions relating to their race. They were asked which doll they would like (as stated above) and other questions such as; Who they would rather be friens with in a stack of pictures showing different childeren of race & gender, who they think would cause trouble etc.

The results showed that both races chose that they 'wanted' to be with the caucasian race. It also showed that they all wanted to be friends with the caucasions. It was as if the black childeren wanted to be with white childeren more than those of their own race. Now, this study was done when the childeren were young, at the ages of 5-6 and way way back in like the 60's. Once this problem was noticed, new teaching methods were introdced to help the black childeren to be proud to be black. The tests were repeated several years later after the teaching plan had been introduced, and it had shown vast improved (In the form of the black chideren choosing black dolls, wanting to be friends with black childeren, etc) Most teaching methods now days use these methods, though there are bound to be places were this technique may not be working.

I'm a big Obama fan. Now granted, I haven't been paying too much attention to the specifics of the primaries and I only have a cursory understanding of Obama's policies, but when I watch Barrack on TV when he's speaking to his supporters, calling for a long-awaited change and all that good stuff, I can't help but think to myself "This could be the next Kennedy."

Wouldn't that be the most awesome thing in the world? Kennedy's presidency was marked most by the beginning of the space program, with the 10-year time limit and everything. What if Obama did the same thing with the oil conglomerates? "We are going to become completely independent of oil by 2017 or bust!" And of course once we got that technology we'd be selling it out to the rest of the world. The elimination of dependency on fossil fuels alone would make me infinitely more optimistic regarding the immediate state of human affairs; after that, it's all about colonizing other planets and curing cancer and so on.

With the kind of drive and charisma that Obama has, I can't help but feel incredibly optimistic about this race.... assuming Hilary doesn't win. And if McCain wins, I'll just shoot myself and get it over with. I have no desire to live through another republican term after they completely screwed things up for the last eight years of my life.

this is possibly the only time in history that something like this could have happened (woman or black president) at least for the next 20 years (estimate). The current administration has made as much of a mess as possible and their blunders have paved the way for a first of firsts. Either way we will be witnessing history; glad I could be around to see it. (by the way, to those who don't know: I'm Canadian and i'm quite interested in American politics; now if you could only adopt a 3+ party system.)

We technically have more than two parties. I think we have 7-8 but, the Dems and the republicans are the top two. Libertarians are a distance third but, its starting to gain ground as people lose confidence in the other two parties.

It is sad that the debate seems to be over obama vs clinton, when it is really obama or clinton vs mccain. But all the parties should be covered by the media. And there are way more than 7-8. There's at least thirty 3rd parties, and more minor parties. It would be hilarious if a third party won, simply because the media never mentions them.

Republicans
Democrats
Libertarians
Socialist/Communist (They are close enough to be lumped together)
Anarchist Party
Constitution Party

(All the other Minor parties don't really count since they haven't even gotten a person elected to a real government seat.)

That's mostly why you haven't heard of them. They may have 1 or no representatives in office, but they are large enough parties to have some say in government issues. A very small say, but still. That and few people pay attention to them.

That's a good point , but if they really win, his "clone" will be president, and Bush will still have control over his "clone".

A scary thought. A man who almost died from a pretzel in charge of another human. How did this guy get elected again? He lost the popular vote... Oh yeah, the electoral college, the reason your vote doesn't matter.

Ten trillion dollars in debt, I'm not looking forward to another Republican president. I can't imagine how anyone would be. McCain can't be as bas as Bush, however. I do not believe he is a Bush clone.

But on the news coverage, although the president race is important, it does seem like the media is doing a little much. It amazes me that countries outside the US would be flooded with Obama vs Clinton. That is overkill. In fact, it's killing the democratic party. It is possible that many Democrats would vote for McCain if their candidate did not win, and it's because of the sense of separation this campaign has cause. You no longer hear, "I'm a Democrat", you hear, "I'm an Obama/Clinton supporter."

So, we'll probably end up with McCain. But maybe we won't.
