True, but if there is no evil, then there also be no good. And since religions (most) call people to 'do good', nothing would ever be accomplished for anyone.
That would imply things such as "evil" and "good" exist, but they are subjective at best. The world is not black and white, but different shades of gray.
On top of that, I'm not a fan of dualities. They simplify shit too much.

If there is a 'great beyond', why would he stop people from getting to it? That's like winning the lottery, but your dad donating all of the money to charity.
Depends on what the 'great beyond' looks like. It could also be a hellish nightmare.
And look at it this way - if the great beyond was such a great place and everybody would get there without limitations, life would lose it's very meaning (if it ever had one). You could just take a shortcut, kill yourself. Easy access to Paradise.
And if there were limitations, that would mean that somebody or something dictates how we have to live our life - not a very nice thought, right.

'Evil' comes from choice, without choice, there would be no point in life. We'd be perfect, because any imperfection is 'evil'.
Call him God because he says to. (I dunno, I bullshitted this last one because I'm lazy =3=).
'Without choice, there would be no point in life' - true. But that's exactly what happens if a transcendental entity imposes rules on us.
