On the subject of Weed, i feel it should be legal. I would put the age at 16, although its more likely the age would be set to 18 if it were to actually become legal. THis is because it has not been proven to cause serious harm to the body the way cigarettes have(truly i cannot understand the appeal of cigarettes). I mean, there have been no cases of weed overdoes, and it hasn't been connected to shit like cancer. I just can't understand how cigarettes can be legal while weed can't.
While i'm fine with alcoholic drinks, i wouldn't drink just for the sake of having alcohol in my body. I think the drinking age should be lowered to 18, and emphasis placed more on preventing drunk driving. On campuses, i think it would be best if the school offered free rides to those too drunk to drive. This is because with drunk driving you are putting innocent people in danger. If you drink but don't drive, you are not putting anyone else at risk of bodily harm.
The thing about marijuana is that, like so many things in life, the way you use it has a lot to do with it's effects. It's true that THC itself has a relatively very low rate of addiction, and is, itself, not extremely dangerous to the human body. But then again, nicotine itself is not extremely dangerous. And while, in most cases, when you smoke weed, all you are smoking is the plant, rather than the mix of things in cigarettes, if you smoke with anything but a vaporizer, you are harming your body. When you burn something, it produces tar in the smoke, and when you inhale the smoke, you inhale the tar. This is, however, the only major health risk in the smoking itself. Although, it remains that THC is a mind-altering drug, and it effects everyone differently. I do feel like it should be legal, especially for medicinal use (which I wont go into now because this is already fast becoming a wall of text), but there should be laws and regulation similar to the laws and regulations to alcohol.
As for people being addicted to weed, while there is not a large risk of chemical dependency, there is a very large risk of phsycological addiction, which should not be underestimated. The biggest problem most people have quiting cigarettes is the phsycological addiction, the chemical dependency actually goes away pretty quickly.
Tobacco is a pretty tricky subject. Tobacco itself is not necessarily a dangerous substance. Take, for example, snus. It contains next to no carcinogens, and has been shown to have almost no negative effects to the health of it's users. This mostly because of the way it is treated, and the fact that very little is added to the tobacco. The danger of tobacco comes out in how it is prepared and used. So I wouldn't tell you that cigarettes are not bad for you, but I would tell you that how bad they are for you depends on many things; this is why it is do difficult to accurately gauge the effects they will have on your health. And while cigarettes are, undoubtedly, dangerous to the health of the smoker, they are much less dangerous those around them than most people seem to believe. The dangerous of second-hand smoke vary as well, but in general, it is hardly dangerous at all to anyone but infants and people who already have respiratory disease.
There are many reasons they are still legal, but really, they should be legal, as much as it is legal to consume anything else that damages your own body.

Ohhoho, where to begin.
First off, I don't like the idea of Alcohol. To me it causes more problems than it's worth and definitely causes many more deaths than pot does. IMO, drunk driving punishments need to be sweepingly punitive; i.e, revocation of one;s driver's license on the first offence, a heavy fine, and jail time. I do agree with the lowering of the drinking age thing though. In Gemrany you can drink at 16 and look at the state they're in.
And regarding Marijuana I've already stated that it causes less damage and death than alcohol and that aside it has so many fewer carcinogens than regular tobacco. Though it still alters one's judgment and reaction speed so it should be considered a DUI/DWH (driving while high).
And for all the other stuff, how 'bout we keep everything but Foxy illegal, and have Foxy refined, regulated, and sold in sex shops.
Many places already have such strict punishments for DUIs. I don't believe that even the death penalty for DUIs would be absolutely effective, but these stricter punishments do help, because it's so much to risk. But there will always be dumb people who will find a way to fuck up everything for the rest of us. Again, the dangers of alcohol are in the way you use it and what you do while using it. In fact, there is evidence to suggest that moderate drinking is actually good for you. And even if drink ridiculous amounts every day, as long as you stay inside your own goddamn house, it's really not negatively effecting society. The real problem is people who like to get drunk and go act like jackasses. But that shouldn't mean that just because of those assholes, no one should ever be able to drink.
Basically, in all things, moderation, and you'll probably be ok. If you don't want to do it, not a problem, don't do it. And if your friends are trying to force you, they probably aren't your friends. I smoke, but I don't encourage any of my non-smoking friends to smoke, I drink, but I don't encourage my teetotaler friends to drink. Most people can handle the responsibilty of these privileges.
Er...sorry about all that...text.
