Now let's have a look. Alcohol and tabacco are sold at supermarkets / gas stations etc in most countries (except the states) that I know.
Both are sold in grocery stores and gas stations in the states. It is common to be next to a guy or several buying a case or cases of beer.

Anything that can permanently damage or kill your body should be illegal... which is most likely everything... The people who sell these just want money, not caring about whether or not something bad happens to the consumer... Even if it was the consumer's choice to obtain this or that, do you really want to give something that will harm them, to them?
Under that logic we would have to ban.
1. Fast food for being unhealthy and increasing the obesity rates in America.
2. Junk food for yet another increase in obesity not to mention the high levels of sodium in some products like Soda which causes other health problems such as high blood pressure.
3. Processed foods as high amounts of the preservatives can also be unhealthy leading to gout and various other problems.
This is a bad view point in my opinion as it says "I'm not responsible enough to understand what I am putting in my body."
As for the topic
Drugs: I am in favor of their legality in principal. I believe that nobody should tell you what you can/can't do to or put in your own body so long as you only affect yourself by your decisions. I realize that a man who succumbs to addiction ends up hurting not only himself but, his family, friends, etc.
-Harder Drugs (Coke,Meth) For it on principal but, against it in reality as these drugs are nearly impossible to kick and trash you the rest of your life (if you survive the addiction).
- Softer drugs (acid, X). I'm not familiar with these drugs as all people I knew who did it were either annoying or already out of their fucking minds. So like the harder stuff I'm against it.
-Weed: I am all for 100% I think it should be treated like a mixture of cigarettes and alcohol. You have to be either 18/21 to buy it. You get a D.U.I for driving while high. You have to have pay taxes on the purchase of them just like cigarettes. Just sell them in the store which will have to purchase a license in order to sell the product just like booze. Growers would be places under
STRICT regulations the same way cigarette manufactures are under regulations.
Cigarettes: I say keep'em but, make sure the public is aware of the dangers of the cigarettes themselves. Keep charging a tax on them as most states tend to draw a large portion of their tax revenue from cigarette sales tax.
Alcohol: I enjoy a drink every now and then but, it's mostly a beer with a meal when I go out with friends. I however can not understand wanting to get drunk. The concept of losing control of your own actions seems asinine to me.
Core thought: Nobody should tell you what you can/can't do with your own body. It is YOUR body after all.
Alcohol is an interesting substance; it doesn't necessarily make you lose control of your actions, even in copious amounts, nor does the alcohol itself so a lot of other things that people generally believe it does. Most of the effects of alcohol are perceived effects, based on thing like the culture you were raised in. This is the biggest reason that it has such a wide range of different effects on different people.
I generally agree with you, though, about what people do to themselves. Although it seems that often enough, the line were it stops effecting only you and begins effecting society is very unclear, and so easily crossed. Anything legalized must be regulated. And I specifically agree with you about weed. Also, if weed is legalized, it should be taxed all to hell like cigarettes are.
