It's said Eve wasn't the first woman created (according to some bible historians). Apparently god tried to create the first woman out of earth like he did Adam, but she wasn't subservient to Adam, so he said vanish.
The first woman, as some apocryphiae tell us, was named Lilith. Apparently she had the same personality as Lucipher and so she was thrown out, and later become the first witch. I've also heard that Lilith was in fact a root of a mandragore, or rather, the root of a mandragore is or was Lilith.
The Book of Genesis says first that God created man and woman, and a few lines later, that He created a woman out of Adam's rib.
Most of churches agree that all that Lilith stuff is irrelevant however.
