Good evening, SD.
I was reading through the articles on MSN Today when
this headline caught my eye.
To summarize,
A man used lethal force on a man who was attempting to sexually assault his 5- year old daughter.
The grand jury declined to bring charges against him.
Essentially, they're saying no crime has been committed on the father's part.

Okay, so we know the story.
What do you guys make of this?
Now, obviously considering the subject matter none of you [presumably] are going to be too terribly sympathetic for the [now] deceased assailant, I mean.. there was danger and wrongdoing involved. The father intervened. This part is important, but my
question to you all is:
Did the father go too far?
No charges have been set against him of any kind.
However, He did
kill a person in front of his 5 year old child.
Would any of you have reacted differently?
My thoughts, should you be curious:
I don't believe I would kill a person. Obviously I understand that as I am not currently a parent I can't appropriately take into consideration the natural maternal instinct to protect, at least on a practical level.
I do, however.. believe that it is a particularly traumatic experience for a child to witness death, of any kind. To witness a person fall to violence with ones own eyes even moreso.
On the other hand, I could also imagine that some part of the child would understand the gesture -- that a parent succeeded in protecting them from harm.
It would nonetheless scar the child's memory. I mean, in one singular event they feel both violated by their attacker, shock at the sudden, violent death of another human, and they are witnessing a parent -- what children know to be symbols of trust and safety, acting against another living being in great rage and cruelty.
I myself would move to subdue and have the assailant arrested.
Besides.. everyone knows what happens to those guys in prison.
I would promptly inform my daughter or son to close their eyes and cover their ears, followed swiftly by my ripping the throat out of the assailant in question.
Upon finishing, I would bring my child home, clean him or her up, and go over the basic rules of living at a young age (Look both ways before crossing the street, don't talk to strangers, etc, etc) and prepare for my trial. I would show no remorse to the man or woman who wanted to touch my children.
-Ripping them limb from limb, simply isn't enough, we must destroy the bastards entire being, torture them for hours and hours on end, days and weeks and months, until finally the last breath the piece of shit will say is 'I was wrong', followed by death.-
