Definitely by consequence. I'm a Nihilist, so the very definition of morals means nothing to me. Although I have my own view of what I find to be acceptable and what isn't. A lot of people argue that is morals, but it is different. I don't think that way because others do, I don't care what anyone else thinks is moral or not, I only care what I think of the situation.
I also don't worry about those decisions based on religious morals, since I'm Atheist. I don't care if it is a sin, and I would go to Hell for killing someone. I would care because I would get in trouble for killing someone. *shrugs*
I think I kind of went off on my own there, but oh well.
I almost found myself in clouds when I was a self moraled and nihilistic, but I tried changing it, I screwed up big time.
IMO, I got sense and instinct, I guess, they're most of the morality I need.
I also find myself, my decisions are to avoid consequences over than morals(hey, those terms can be in one).
But there are "common good" which is like "perhaps the same could have been said, whether in through all religions"
by Castlevania SotN, IMO, they're nice as a template for my own morals specially that these times is tricky, ancient moral or philosophy aren't enough to match what good to have moral we need to have.
Pretty much, the "common good" the rules that probably made the world nicer through time, such as not being a *cursable person*.
