So, now I'm being forced to argue in a specific way, and any other is wrong? Isn't that a narrow-minded way of looking at it?
Well, nobody's forcing you to argue in a specific way. And you already follow rules in your argumentation on this forum anyhow. Recall there are rules and guidelines for this specific forum, and a modicum of intelligence is required to make topics and posts.
So...you're already submitting to some rules that force you to remain somewhat intelligent. Wouldn't this new methodology provide for you a new way to argue that allows you to illustrate your points better? Even better, this allows you to analyze your own views, and see if any of the fallacies, or problems in rhetoric includes something you personally believe. And if THAT'S the case...you might be able to change your view. And nothing is more exciting than rigorous, informed debate that changes people's views...wouldn't you say?
Yes, nobody is forcing me to argue in this way, however it states somewhere in the post (I think the image) that if you don't follow these guidelines, I (you/OP) will not contribute to the topic, thus stopping all debate.
However, I suppose you're right in regards to the improvement of one's argumentative method. Furthermore yes, I do love a good debate, but not everyone's view can be changed and there may be a good reason for it (as we have already come across in another thread :P).
