Ziggy, shooting a gun is a little easier than flipping open a knife, just saying.
Close, but not quite.
Pulling the trigger is easier, on most handguns. But drawing, aiming, firing, controlling the recoil, then possibly needing to adjust aim and fire again? Not so easy, especially if you intend to hit what you want, rather than something less deserving.
Back on-topic. Yes, I would pull the trigger if the situation warranted it. Urgent threats to the lives of myself, my loved ones, and the law-abiding citizens within my zone of awareness are something I take very seriously.
If there are no police in the immediate area when some douche holds up the convenience store I'm in, I'd much prefer to shoot the bastard dead (thus doing my civic duty) and deal with any paperwork and legal trouble later, rather than allow the possibility that someone innocent could be hurt by a criminal when I could've done something about it.
Would I regret it? No, and yes.
No, I would not regret acting on my best judgment using what tools I had available at the time.
Yes, I would regret that the end of a human life by violence had to occur.
Would I be able to look myself in the mirror later? Absolutely.
Would I do it again if necessary? Without hesitation.
Would I like to have it done to me? If I did what the criminal did, then yes, because I'd damn well deserve it.
