Oh good lord the rant i could muster up inside me if the mood was right. I will try my hardest to keep this to a minimum, but it may turn into a giant wall of text.
First of all, I hate to say this, but i blame the choke hold that technology has over everyday life, people are now so used to having something that will fix the problem for them, they don't tend to care if it ends up being wrong.
Secondly, social networking sites. I hate the fact that when i log onto myspace, grammar, logic, and all things that would normally be accepted are thrown out the window in place of terrible spelling, the lack of any type of coherent understanding of grammar, or the use of punctuation. If you happen to be sitting on myspace, I:m sure you have time to capitalize and type out complete sentences.
Third, and as of now, lastly, I'm going to have to agree with all of you saying that public (and hell, probably even private) schooling has gone to all hell. In a world where spelling doesn't count and we have a calculator to solve our problems for us no matter how minuscule why bother to even try? I will constantly see people sitting in class huddled up inside purses or jackets texting friends on their newest cell phones, and that is what pisses me off the most. If you would rather talk to you're friends about how boring school is, drop out and do it. There are people all around the world starving for an education and you're getting yours for next to nothing, appreciate it you ungrateful pieces of shit.
I'd say you kept that rant onder control. This all makes perfect sense. Your second issue is precisely the reason why I don't bother with chatrooms, texting, etc. Every once in a while I do mispell things, but that's because I'm dyslexic, I've learned how to get around it for the most part, but evry once in a while I screw up. I'll put "e's" where they don't belong or switch letters around. Anyway, the point is, your absolutely right, people should give the phones and shit a rest until they actually learn something in school.
