The wise intellectuals in history

Recently,about a few months ago,I was making research(and still making now) about
the wise peoples in history.Especially in philosophy or something that related about life.I am amazed by these peoples who prosper their lives and others by preaching logical philosophy,rational quotes and outstanding conclusions they conclude from what they experienced in their lives such as Goethe,Voltaire,Plutarch and etc.
So,I am guessing there must be people who are interested by the ways they famed themselves in this world.
Who is your favorite historical intellectual?

My personal fave is Friedrich Nietzsche. Such an interesting man, and his philosophy is mind-blowing (to say the least). It's a shame that his mental illness kept him from continuing his work.

Charles Darwin was the first to propose the "theory"(what we now know as truism) of evolution and how evolutionary life isn't just in plants or in biotic life but especially in genetic human life. Of course, many would reject Darwinism as it rejects the thesis of Liberalism(the world we live in today), where mediocrity is acceptable. Liberalism has made us complacent, Liberalism has allowed for millions of Americans to be in debt and government dependent. Government itself, on both sides of the aisle have been very pro-liberalism and for good reason: A Liberal Society means duped voters. Duped, passive and uninterested.

I'm a Darwinist and I'm proud of it :D

To answer your question, no, I'm not trolling. I was using one of my favorite thinkers, to show why I believe another person's favorite thinkers, was inept.

In order to be strong,you must accept your weaknesses.
I believe all thinkers are inept.
It's just that the human have more knowledge.Therefore,I learned from various thinkers.
Why I think all thinkers are inept,because they are also humans.
They just happened to know what other peoples don't.Because they also learn to improvise themselves.
In my opinion,we can be much better than them.Only we don't have the desire to improvise.

In other words, anyone who's fallible is, by definition, inept. so you're redefining inept to mean fallible.

In other words, inept has no use in your ideology. And in mine, where I don't believe in this perfect being that you believe in, then there's no such thing as not being inept, according to you.

Well, how about this, do oyu at least accept that some people aren't as inept as others?

So go ahead and believe everyone's inept. Me and the people who actually acknowledge when other people are right about things, and utilize discoveries to philosophically determine the state of reality will be over here progressing.

Yes and no.Yes for the fact of everyone is inept.No for not being progressive.
You can be progressive and I also progress.But I think like this because I believe Humans no matter they progress,they're still have weaknesses.
Having weaknesses is inept,don't you think?

Being inept is a weakness.And Humans are inept in something they're not adept.
So,for being inept is having a weakness which is being an inept.

While not big "fan" of anyone, but being Greek I had to study some of the greatest figures to ever walk earth in history course and the one that stuck with me is one of the seven sages of Greece, Solon.
A poet that rallied Athenians with his words and when he rise to archon, among other things, he fought class inequity, relieved debt pressure, freed slaves and removed mortgages from land.
He freed Athens from the shackles of Draconian law, and while his laws weren't exactly perfect, they were the foundation for Athenian democracy.
