What makes a good forum?YOUR opinion required!

Hi everyone,

After reading the announcement regarding forum policies and behaviour of readers,I've decided to open up this thread. Perhaps somewhere along the lines of this thread ,we could find a way to make Fakku a better forums that it already is? :D

Now back to the topic,what do you think makes a good forums where it remains active and has a big load of loyal fanbase?


I'll start the ball rolling...
IMO,a good forums is where the content it provides,helps people out. It can be under anyone's terms,whether it be that big hard boss you cant seem to beat in Halo or Metal Gear Solid, or techniques,tips and tricks relating to say,technology or gardening. The scope to talk about is virtually endless though I dont think its a good idea to have too many topics to talk about.

The second would be to have constant helpful replies made to threads and general regulation from the admins and mods.Applaud those that contribute intelligently to a discussion and punish those who cuss and hiss extremely for the smallest of reasons.

Now in terms of Fakku,to me,i think that it would be great to have weekly themes of something in every different category of the forums,much like the MOTEMOTE Character battle section.

For example.under the "videogames" section,maybe a mod or admin could start a new thread that concentrates on an individual genre or game.From my POV,this could help fans of the genre or game discuss the common interest and also help entice newbies to learn more. the way I see it,this helps out everyone :D . It could be done as per "stickied thread" so everyone can see it and removed,the week after. I think this helps people to have something to look forward to each week.


Now,the dear admins and mods ,as well as the main contributors of the forums are doing a SPLENDID job in keeping the forums alive.This thread is just for me to express opinion,it is in no way an indirect attack at fakku of any sort. Also keep in mind that my opinion may not agree with yours,and heck,it shouldnt matter to you anyway.Everyone has their individual opinions right?:)

In all seriousness, Fakku IS a good forum. There is little to no drama in all but most recent times, the community is steadily growing and still friendly, and the hentai flows like...

However,by that logic,then the forums is only good to people piror to fapping? Since yousay hentai makes a good forums and thus attracts people. Hentai may lose its appeal to ppl whoo has already "fapped". I know it does for me,till the next time i feel like "it" again. :P


Anyways,like I said,Fakku is a great forum,but would'nt it be great if it was better? Kinda like black and white television moving on to colour tv moving on to HD. Black and white was good but from then on,things have just been better. This explains the concept of my thread here,its not about turning "bad" fakku into "good" fakku,but turning "good" fakku to "greater". :D

A good forum, has a huge variety different types of threads, allowed to have freedom of speech, and is organized. Thats all I can think of.

A good population of users.

Thats about it.

Also having a nice variety of topics but not too many. Then you'd have topics that are never used.

And a good moderation team if you care for the rules.

Not if you have a mass number of users

Forums are fine as-is, they just need some people running around with pruners to chop off stupid topics before they turn into something gnarly.

Although I'm still a bit iffy on all these forums being added.

Keep posting suggestions! I'm very interested in seeing what you guys think we should do to improve the site.

As some of you said, the main concern as of now is to improve the userbase, which as of late has worsened remarkably in a very short time, but I do like the idea of featured topics. I will try and come up with something once I have the mod system up and going.

Jacob's also come up with a few cool ideas that should encourage intelligent and contributive posting, so we'll see how those turn out.

About FAKKU, IMO the thread categories is a bit much...
Maybe they should be simplified? I think it will be easier to navigate...

well, it's already good as it is,

but a good moderation team will be of a great help(to prevent people from goin off topic and start their own stupid flame wars by saying retarded things)

and the random and incoherent babbling sections are very generalized, so lots of people just don't care about what they say and how that affect other users, giving certain senior or certified users more authority to temporarily control certain situations before they get out of hand is a good idea.

A good forum is one in which every voice is respected and listened to. The mods must be equally strict no matter how many years you've been a member, and flaming must not be accepted. Lastly, "Respect to all those who debate their positions using facts and reason rather than rumor and passion."

If those rules are kept, I believe the rest follows automatically.

How about one mod for every section?

That doesn't sound like it'd work too well. Some sections would have very bored mods, and others would have very over-worked mods.

Simply put the best forum you could put on fakku is about talking about the doujins on fakku and what they don't have so you can contribute and learn to make doujins yourself, and blah, blah, blah forums here on fakku is just for to have fun and kinda learn and express yourself in ways you couldn't in real life[not speaking for myself]. If there really was a great forum... sorry to say i doubt it would be on fakku cause it is a hentai site after all, but don't get me wrong fakku's got really amazingly good stuff here, in fact fakku is like my favorite site on the internet.But We have toys and cosplay as forums... not really the best on the planet but we still love'em for their mediocrity and simplicity.(no offense) :D

1) Good Mods: Fair, not too strict. Regulates the rules and guidelines without acting like an overbearing, rude dictator (Flips Hgeeks the bird).

2) Good Community: Doesn't have a lot of members that act like they own the forums or can make up their own rules (I almost left this place on the first day after having a run in with Exam.). The members are helpful to newbies and doesn't flame to the point where the forum is just an unpleasant place to hang (looks at bakajojo and sighs).

3) Good Content: Definitely not the most important, but it is a necessity. I usually join forums that got good stuff to share with others. In return I share what I got.

dont get me wrong. it's you that makes me do that.

you dont even introduce yourself. just come in and post your videos which has been uploaded by other peoples.

it's showing that you're not respecting the others,and i must remind you of this.

i'm a strict man. specially for newbie. but i'm not doing it because i want to make problem with it,that's because i care for this site.

it's not weird seeing Bakajojo isnt crowded as FAKKU. they have rules but doesnt work properly,while other people seeing that site only for leeching. no more,no less.

but in FAKKU,we have community. altough some people doesnt care,but i do care for FAKKU. that's why i'm acting strict to newbies,specially you.
