Ultimately, you don't have to actually do the Strikeforce missions if you don't want to.
Granted, I had only a few problems with the AI, (most of which had no idea where the fuck to go, or realize that they don't have to go the freaking long way), but they do what most anyone expects them to do when you don't control them personally.
Only real gripe I have about the Strikeforce missions is that all of them seem to have steep varying levels of difficutly. Some of them are actually quite easy to do, while the others, like the first SF Mission, seem to be ridiculously hard.
Storywise, I'm glad they actually decided to mix things up for once. Granted, yeah, some things are beyond belief, (though it's a GAME, what did you expect?), but still good overall, and replay actually has value now.
Like I said before, the reason I'm so against the Strikeforce missions is because they actually affect the story. Sure, I can skip them, but then I won't get the "best" ending, which kinda pisses me off.
I accepted (and even kinda liked) the story for the first Black Ops because it stayed relatively grounded in terms of plausibility... sorta. But in this, it's just asking for too much, which made it hard for me to immerse myself into the story. This is also the reason why I hated Modern Warfare 2 and 3 so much.
The story in Black Ops was made to be believable, due to the classified nature of the Cold War, but Black Ops II, remember, takes place in both the Cold War, and a plausible-type of future.
The MW storyline was supposed to be something well within our time at least, but I could see where you're coming from about it. The story in MW3 just felt like it wasn't thought out well enough.
Hell, certain Special Forces outfits are already using quadrotors for recon and surveilance, won't be long until they start using them as a means for offense.
Again, as for the Strikeforce Missions; I wasn't all that surprised about the AI, which was about what I expected them to do when not in control of them personally. Enemy AI seemed to derp at one moment or two in each mission, but, again, the thing that bugged me the most was the varying difficutly curve in-between missions.
Also, unlike Black Ops, the replay value in part two has more incentive to it. Made a mistake and didn't like the outcome in one mission that screwed shit up on all future missions? You can easily go back and do what you think will make a difference.
I know I shouldn't have driven through that fire and burned the right side of Harper's face.
