The damn thing won't allow me to enter the cd key. When i ckiled game install, an error popped up.
I spoke other of my friends that have installed this game, and personally played, but none of them have ever ran across this error. The only hindrance I can think of is the locale not set to Japanese, but you probably have already done it or using Applocale or whatever it is called. I purposely set the game up on my old machine incorrectly many times, so if anyone has problems I can help, but for this; I'm not entirely sure. If you can post a screen of the error that would be helpful and maybe I can be more sure of what I'm dealing with.

Definitely not familar with that error, but I do have things that will help you fix it, hopefully. For starters:

Trying these steps first should be enough to diagnose the immediate problem as small as they are (First two possible solutions are very helpful.) Dude, thx for your help so far, frankly if i met a guy like me i wouldve lost patience ages ago. I'll try your methods later tonight and if it doesnt work im just gonna re dl it, gotta go to school to hand in my paper.

Okay, hoping at least one works for you, so you can avoid trying to re-download it, but that may very well do the trick. Be waiting to see if at least one method works. Good luck, as well as with the paper by the way.

After hours of fiddling around since following the instructions didn't work, I finally gave up.The game installs correctly, and can be played in japanese. I, however, cannot read japanese. When I use the english patch, the game just stops working. It will give me a black screen, and the window will refuse to even close unless I stop the process with task manager.
However, I did notice that when I was using the patch, it said some program stopped working, and then continued. Perhaps the problem lies there?

Figured out something called crage.exe stops working during the patching. Its probably the cause of the problem.

After more fiddling around and research, found out a couple of things.
By using applocale, I can make the first warning screen (the 18+ stuff) appear, and the music is there as well. However, once that warning screen fades, the screen stays black. When I try to close it, it gives me the "are you sure" box, but without the yes or no option. Essentially, I still have to use task manager.
Another thing is that when I answer the question with "trick question", it always gives me the same "not recognized" stuff. Tested it out later by putting in random phrases, the patch will still run, and the result is the same no matter what I put it in. Refer below to see what it.
Once again, I'm lost. Out of new stuff to try out. Tried opening it with every combination of compatibility from the properties menu. Language setting is Japanese. For the heck of it, I even tried chinese and korean. No cigar. Someone please help.

I know you already did this, but let's review. Here are the aforementioned steps: (Before trying make sure you are in Japanese locale/or using Appolocale. I just used Japanese locale.)
1.Mount the ISO and install (Enter the product key; check the bottom of the second page in this thread if you can't find it. When mounting, if daemon tools fail, use something else like Virtual Clone. I'm using it.)
2.Copy the Nodvd patch over the original exe file in the place where you installed it. (If you having problems moving it over, make sure you right click-properties-add admin rights to the folder;Full control.)
3.Download the Antibat patch (antifail in otherwords) and move into the Chaos;Head installation folder and run it. Follow and read all the instructions carefully.
4. Then play it.
Trust me, if you follow all the instructions in the readme you shouldn't have much of a problem.
EDITED:...And these steps do work for Windows 7. I installed it on my system and it is running without problems.
Just move the Anti-fail patch to the place where you installed Chaos;head, and install it. When it asked for either HARD or SOFT subs, I just entered Hard (exactly as typed) and when asked for the license question, all you need to enter is trick question (exactly as I did. No caps, no quotes, and needs to be spaced.) After that, just follow the rest of the instructions which are self-explanatory.
I suggest you start from reinstalling the game, meaning to remove it and reinstall it to avoid any problems. Like aforementioned, if you follow the read-me, and do exactly as it ask, you will be fine.

I didn't want to search through the 30 pages, so sorry if this has been answered already, but I followed the instructions step by step, and set my regional setting to japanese that came preinstalled on windows 7, and got a no cd crack. But, whenever I try to start the game, it takes me back to the title screen again, and the options menu is in english, but none of the buttons are clickable. Anyone know what's wrong?

Ok i got a little problem maybe u could help couse meanawhile I´m an the end of my knowledge. So i install the game and put the no dvd data in, so i can start the game and it works. So i close the game and want to use the antifail patch ok at first i want to unzip it on the c.h folder, it dosen´t work, then i extractet it into anather folder and put it from ther into the c.h folder. I startet the antifaill patch ok untill now i get no problem but then he ask me if in the c.h folder is the folder npa-backup so couse it isn´t there i anwsert no, and there is my problem, he wants to extract something and then i get the message the archive was broken or has an unknowen format...
Ok i triet to install it in a nother folder here it works whitout problem, then i past it to the c-h folder but it´s still japanes...
so i had no idea what to do now....

ok i am haveing trouble instaling i downloaded all the files un Rared them and mouted the iso with deamon tools and then run the set up.... and then nothing happens a black box appears for half a second and then nothing... any advice?

Not quite sure what happened, but I've installed the game, run the antifail patch, and everything appears to have worked. But when i run the game, text isnt translated.
Menus, videos (I think), graphics etc are in english, or have subtitles, but the in game text is stil japanese.
I'll keep fiddling around with things to try and fix it, but if anyone knows what went wrong, or where I messed up, I'd be grateful.

I hate to ask, but since I fail at all things computer-related, can someone pm a step-by-step guide to getting this game installed. I'm mostly having problems plopping the NoDVD file into the ISO record for the game. I'm not sure where I went wrong, so if you're willing to help... And if not, then thanks for reading this far, ehehe....

My dear friends I know it's late for this, but after I finish mounting the game, when I click game install, the blue screen of death appears before me, I've already updated my DirectX to the latest version but still won't work, anyone has any ideas?

Here is a video I made for those still unclear how to get it to work. Yes, my voice and instructions. When the game is running I turned off the sound so it won't mess up my voice; so don't worry the sound WORKS.I left the installation run...so skip ahead if you want to see it running and what not.
